Thank you! I struggled for years because I would try to sit too close and had trouble focusing when they zoomed in to the flowers. I have much better luck when I'm sitting further away. I'm attaching a shot of my setup from the day this shot was taken. Excuse the messy patio and yard- August heat is brutal! |

Nice interesting bird. I like the background and fence colors. The only thing I would try is to add a little texture to the feathers. I like to use a detail boost feature of an older Topaz program, but I think lightroom and camera raw has a texture feature. |

My favorite bird! They are plentiful down here and are very difficult to photograph because they don't like you to get too close. I prefer the color tone of the original. I think the edited image is too warm. I would maybe bring down the highlights on the tree he is standing on so that it is not so bright. |

I like the pose on this bird, but I am distracted by the halo around it- especially the beak. I like the background because it looks textured to me. I know it was difficult to get a shot of one bird in this bunch. They love to frustrate photographers by bunching up! |

I love the colors, but I do think that the purple leaves on the right are distracting and I think that you could have a stronger image if you moved in closer to the yellow part of the flower. I took a flower course with Kathleen Clemons and one of the tips she gave us was to use a diffuser when shooting in sunlight. I have a small one and a "plamp" that can clip on a tripod which really helps to get even light on the flower! |
