Well, I'm sure you are eagerly awaiting foliage 2021. We just had two Zoom presentations on foliage - made want to grab the camera and start shooting - except the leaves are still pretty green here. For me, it's the water reflection that makes the difference. The trees on shore are a little dull but their counterparts in the water are great. The bright colors in the boats provided a nice buffer between the land and water. |

Clever of you, Peter to get the "look!" I have taken advantage of these studio set-ups in the past and have had great success in competitions with them. Everything works here - the "look" and the outfits and the pose and the detail throughout. There is a bit of a shine on the couple from the studio lights which can be lessened with some programs. I use Luminar AI and the skin slider to do it. An extremely minor tweak. |

Marisa, it's too bad you didn't provide any info on this shot. It appears you took it from your vehicle - hopefully, you were the passenger! Sometimes I see these photo opportunities appear before me and I quickly fire off a shot. Once I have that "grab" then I look at the area again to understand what it was that made me want to shoot it in the first place. I know being in a moving vehicle precludes the chance of recomposing the shot. I feel this bridge was interesting because of the steel girders - there appears to be some pattern there. I did try to isolate the pattern in the bridge but could not. |

Could this be a "nut" hatch :) Good detail in the head as he must have been moving his body. I might burn out some of the perch underneath him. Instead, I added some warmth and contrast to that wood and, moved it off-center. |

Yes, the Auburn Cemetery is a wonderful place to photograph. I did hear they were putting restrictions on photography there.
As for your hawk - I wonder if it's the same I shot there several years ago? I did try to open up the shadows on the hawk and the branch. Using NIK's Viveza I was able to get some detail in both areas. Not sure what is going on with your background though. The foliage at the top looks strange (darkened it) but what was happening at the bottom looks weirder. |
