Thanks, Sheldon. The color is way too busy as the boxer is lost in a sea of color. Looked less manly in color (I would never say that to his face). Your revision of the B&W does offer more definition and tonality. Has almost a sepia look to it. I like this over your original posting. |

Thanks for the "heads up" on ways to improve this character. I did remove the white piece on the left, tone down the rest of the white emblem, fill in the reflection on the left , and get rid of the reflection under his left eye.
Looks a lot better now - thanks. . . |

Going monochromatic is a tough call on this image. I found the image too busy as there was not enough separation in the tonality (no clearly defined blacks and whites). I would like to see the colorized shot to see if there is a clearer concept of "The Boxer." |

Dick, sorry to hear about the stolen equipment. I don'y know where I would start if everything was taken from me. |

Glenn, I am also captivated by stained glass windows. On a recent trip to Italy, I think I shot over 100 windows. The trick is to get them when the sunlight does NOT blow them out. You nailed this one as the colors are rich throughout the scene.
A very minor-minor point is the cropping on the right as you cut out a small part of the vegetation thus throwing of the balance just a tad. |

John, ordinarily I am not a fan of photographing the works of others. However, you were able to make this image your own with the tighter cropping of just the head. I think your background also helped to set this off - it was not distracting.
I did play around with the light areas on the back of the next and opened up the shadows under its head. |

Udayan, you come across some of the most colorful imagery for this group. Do you simply hang in one spot and wait for the participants or were they waiting for you and your camera?
This blue really enhances the colorful dresses on the two women. Their positioning is perfect with the younger one in the lower spot. The facial expressions lets us know that they are enjoying this moment.
I did crop out some of the extra blue wall and got the scene a little off-center. Also, darkened the center area around the lock - perhaps a flash caused it to brighten up?
Pressure is one you now to find another colorful locale for next month :) |

FANTASTIC, Peter!
You took a simple scene and made it something for lots of discussions. The large amount of negative space can be a problem but here it added to the story being told. The space is inviting me in to look around. Now if only I could pull up a chair to watch some TV. The variety of textures within the frame is another plus.
Excellent rendering of your wife on the TV! Her pink coat pops on that screen. . . |

Dick, haven't we seen this before? It was probably a few years back.
If I am wrong, I'll offer my opinion when I hear back from you.
