I have gone back to the original to see of I can determine what happened with that sky - jury is still out. Me thinks, a pano might be the easy solution for those dramatic tufas. |

Glenn, well captured! It is one very colorful bird. I do see you were well armed with the flash and a 600mm lens. Just how close was the little guy?
Like Peter, I am not bothered by the slightly fuzzy backside. We all know judges focus on the beak and the eyes - if they are sharp, you are golden. |

Ursula, Didn't get this shot when I was there several years ago. The water level was too low. I did manage to get a fascinating landscape just off to the left. I believe this was Dead Horse Canyon?
At any rate, I do like the detail that extends from the rock formations in the foreground all the way to those in the rear of the image. Great color as well. |

Sheldon, let me echo the greetings of my PID 17 colleagues - welcome! I, too, look forward to what we will be seeing in the future (no pressure, right).
Your first submission was a true character study and the fact that you had him framed by that painting was pure genius. I tried to put him in the painting by playing with some of the PS filters. did not get the results I wanted but I'm sure the right filter is out there.

Peter, the power of Mother Nature is truly evident here! The small boy exemplifies just how small and insignificant we are against the force of the elements.
I agree with Dick's comments and did crop it more. I was able to see more of the facial expression on the boy which helped to tell the "rest of the story1" |

Dick, my first impression was Monet had thrown a tantrum in his garden - what a symphony of color!! Great eye in not only seeing this shot but also in providing us with a great perspective to see it. I liked the spacing on the left.
Being in a post-processing mood, I played around with the twig that rises up to the left. It was not my best cloning effort but I did like the results. . . |

John, another train image with great interaction between the subjects. Going B&W also added to my interest. Quick question - do you just hang out at these stations and wait for these shots or are you in the right place at the right time???
I did "play" around with your image. I tightly cropped out the white sky; burned down the window reflection; took out the concerns that Peter and Sheldon had.
Looking forward to your next stop! |
