Thanks Douglas. yes, I used a radiant mask on the area of the trees with the lighting. But first, I used a linear mask from the top of the image to the upper water line and then applied a radial mask in the same area, but covering only the trees with the morning sunlight. I hope that makes sense. |

Linda, what a great image. The leading lines of the waterway and yellow vegetation immediately take me from the bottom of this image directly to the line of horizontal trees and the sky in the background. Your composition of this scene is perfect. Everything is sharp across the image, and the colors are vibrant and beautiful. Removing the branches as Yvonne suggested will be less of a distraction for me. Very nice image. |

Randy, I like this serene nature photo. There is so much to see in this image, I think you did well with your composition. The path alongside the stream adds context to the image while the warm early light leads me to the colorful light reflections among the rocks in the stream. I particularly like the color of the stream caused by the surrounding green vegetation. The edit by Sabine does bring a little more light into the photo, otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing. |

Sylvia, very nice simple image with just a few elements with a water fountain and water dish. Exposure looks spot on and the contrast in color between the wall and floor is great, leading my eye from the bottom to the wall fountain. The most interesting part of your image to me is the lattice shadow pattern on the right side of the image creating somewhat of an optical illusion to me. The pattern can be reversed when looking at the same location, depending on which direction you think the light source is coming from. I also like the light pattern on the left side of the wall and fountain. Very interesting. Great job Sylvia. |

Douglas, this is an interesting B&W photo. The background itself is interesting and is nicely blurred, creating great separation from the girl, crane and fence. The girl's concentration on her reading makes this a great candid shot. I think the shape of the crane with all its rivets and its wheel adds interest to this photo. I think Sabines edit works well too. Very nice job! |

Yvonne, this is a very nice B&W photo. Your composition is of simple elements, a window, curtains, bed and shelf. This composition with the light shining through the lace curtains and leaving its imprint on the beds blanket creates a peaceful ambiance for me. Sabines edit was done well, is colorful and interesting, but does not leave me with the same peacefulness as your B&W. Thank you for the story behind the image. |

Sabine, this is a fantastic and interesting photo. Everything across the image is very sharp and full of color. The two fishing boats with so much detail in the calm water really add to this story to me. Great contrast between the dark sky and the land, water and boats and the two rainbows frame this image nicely. Great image. |

Thank you Sabine. Regarding the black branch, I agree with you. During post processing, any attempts to bring out detail in the black only resulted in a brownish unrealistic color, without any detail. |

Thank you Michael. After this shot, I tried to reposition myself walking through the shrubs for more of a frontal view, and they flew off before I could get settled. |

Leslie, the pose of the bird is perfect, and the direction of the sunlight highlighting the heron's side profile couldn't be better. Great sharpness across the whole image. The sharp eye with beautiful color and catch light draws my immediate attention to the detail in the bird's head. The Heron blends perfectly in its natural surroundings. Very nice. |

Mike, this is a great photo of the cormorant in flight. Tack sharp and the yellow under its chin immediately draws my attention to the bird's face. I like the background color and softness that creates good separation from the bird. |

The post processing of this image is done very well. Everything is sharp and the eye is tack sharp, the detail you captured in the feathers is perfect, and the colors are amazing. The background is great in color and softness. I think Tom's crop works well with this image. This is a beautiful image. |

Tom,
This is a great photo of a Cormorant. I've never seen one like this before. Everything is so sharp and the colors of the face are fantastic. I really like the motion of the water behind the bird, and the softness and color of the water in front of the bird is amazing. Every thing about this image is perfect. Really very nice. |

Great action shot Charles. The foreground grass and all players are really sharp. Great background creating nice separation between the players and background. What makes this image pop for me is that I can see the front of most of the players along with their facial expressions. Great timing for this shot. |
