Thank you Yvonne. The branch does have graceful curves to it though I hadn't even considered that look when initially processing. This is interesting and I will take some time with your recommendation and see what I can produce. Thanks again Yvonne. |

Sabine, what a very interesting event with so much to see. Thank you for the additional information you provided regarding this event. I think your post processing was done well given the lighting conditions shown in your original. My eye is drawn to two main areas of interest; the smaller boats to the right of your image and then to the larger ships on the left. To me, the tall sailing ships are of more interest because of the construction and history associated with each. I think the work Sylvia did better reflects this point of view. With all the people visiting this event, I think you were fortunate to find this location to capture this image. Nice job. |

Thanks Douglas for your feedback. I never noticed the imbalance and while looking at your image, I definitely see an improvement. A second set of eyes is always welcomed when pointing out those little details missed that matter. Thanks again. |

Yvonne, this is a very interesting photo. I enjoy seeing images reflecting our transportation history and this lift bridge still being used today. You probably already know this, the house on top is actually where the operator of the lift bridge works from. You did well to lighten the image from the original. I think the work Sylvia did improves the image even more. |

Doug, this is a great landscape shot. Your crop and vignette applied at the bottom of the photo did what you intended as my focus was drawn directly to the dock and inner tubes before I read your story line. The reflection of the dock and shoreline weeds in the water really adds interests. You did well with your post processing. |

Linda, the colors throughout the photo are what first caught my eye. The reds, greens and whites are so vivid with great definition and clarity of the architectural details. There is so much interest to see, the effects of different lighting conditions on the building and people, and individuals interacting with each other as others in the group have described. The photo is very sharp across the image and your exposure is excellent, especially if done with a cell phone. This is a great image, very well done. |

I was cautious to work with this lovely scene for fear changes might alter too much an image that does not align with what you saw when taking the photo. It was a real challenge. I used the Lightroom tools I'm familiar with more so as an example of options you might explore using if going forward. |

Sylvia, I can almost taste that refreshing margarita drink while imagining myself lying on the beach with the beach towel and sunglasses, at least I think it's a margarita. I'm not very familiar with mixed drinks, but I do recognize salt on the rim of the glass accompanied by a slice of lime. The image is sharp with an arrangement I recognize, so I think you succeeded well with your summer still life assignment. |

Randy, this is a lovely winter scene that nicely captures your vision of the lower evergreen branch protecting the rhododendron bush. I thought I would process your image using an approach to help separate key features from the background. Using Lr, I applied separate masks to the rock border, the rhododendron bush, each of the two evergreen branches with the snow and the three trees in the foreground. I made very slight adjustments in each for highlights, whites, dehaze. Then I created another mask with all the elements mentioned above and inverted that mask to soften the background using the texture/clarity sliders and increased the whites a little. I made slight adjustments using the color grading sliders. I then used a white filter from color Efex Pro to enhance the snow a little more. This is a subjective perspective and I'm not sure anything I did were improvements from your work, but these changes helped me to appreciate more of what I think are the key elements. This is a lovely scene I enjoyed working on. |

Leslie, the detail and color of both birds in this photo is amazingly clear and sharp against a nicely blurred background. Of course, sitting on top of this carcass with the dried water hole (guessing) as a background does tell a great story. Great photo! |

Marilyn, very nice photo of this Egret. You succeeded well to capture an image of the birds backside with a side view of its head and beak at the same time. Posed on a rock against the blue water is very nice. I like how you were able to capture such detail of the white feathers. The colors across the image look great. |

Mike, The pose of this bird in flight and positioned at the water line to the background is great. This is the first heron photo I've seen with toe nails so well defined, and the water droplets off it feet is a great touch. The bird looks sharp and looks well exposed. The colors across the image look great. Very nice capture. |

Don, a perfect pose of the tree swallow on a great branch. The colors are really nice. The background is a little busy to my taste, maybe lightening the bird and branch it's sitting on a little might create a little more separation from the background. Really a very nice photo. |

Michael, nice capture of this hummingbird. The body is sharp with a nice catch light in the eye with just enough blur in the wings. The background and bird share similar color and darkness. In my opinion, Increasing exposure/highlights/whites with a mask on the bird itself would create a little more separation from the background. Still, a very nice capture. |

Everything is sharp, I like the composition with the bird on the mossy log, very nice. The background is a bit too green for my taste, but still works fine. The bird is magnificent, but it is the sharp, clear eye with great color and a catch light that makes this image for me. Great job Ted. |

Tom, very nice capture of this Heron (first one I've ever seen). I think the exposure of the bird is very good, capturing all the sharp detail, color and whites throughout the bird, and I think exposure of the beach is done well too, especially given the bright lighting conditions. I played with your image in Lightroom and could not make any improvement in the beach area. |
