9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Randy. I'm happy you found some value in my post processing description. it is challenging keeping up with all the changes photoshop and Lightroom make. I'm interested to read about the other software you are transitioning to, when submitting future images. Jul 17th
9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Sabine. I agree, the bright dewdrop is distracting. I debated during post processing whether to remove that one dewdrop or not, and now I'll revisit the image and experiment. Jul 17th
9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Yvonne. I did perform all the task as described in my post processing instruction but may not have been in the exact order as listed. Steps/rework performed was done at multiple sittings which I didn't write down, so I'm relying on memory. Jul 15th
9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Douglas. Jul 13th
9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you for your kind words Linda, much appreciated. Like you, I'm still learning Lightroom editing tools, just not quick enough. Thanks again. Jul 11th
9 Jul 25 Comment Linda, the quality of cell phone images these days always amazes me. The exposure, the color and sharpness on this image from front to back is very good. I would not have known the difference between a cell phone or DSLR camera body. You did a great job organizing and composing this image with perfect poses and smiles from everyone. Providing your details of this event is much appreciated and you have done very well to capture a great story in one moment in time. Nice job. Jul 11th
9 Jul 25 Comment Yvonne
The foreground and background elements in both the original 2 and B&W photos have appealing elements by themselves, but when combined with this in-focus pink blossom, they are slightly distracting elements for me.
I really like your Pink Peony photo. The shades of pink color from dark to light are captured beautifully and I like the form of the blossom with one petal leaning away from the side of the blossom. The blossom with the graceful posture of the smaller neighboring flower bud against a clear background is a perfect composition which I think stands on its own telling an interesting story. Nicely done.

9 Jul 25 Comment Douglas, I like the original version if cropped as you did with the B&W but I prefer the B&W conversion more. I'm immediately drawn to the design elements of the door with its detailed six panels. Your conversion was done well here. The smaller rectangular glass windows surrounding the door and the hanging light fixture above and centered within the arch and pitched roof really adds character and interest to this image. I think the crop is good when eliminating the foreground as you did. I like the flowerpots and handrails which I think add balance to the image. The window shutters above and to the left of the door are a bit distracting to me, but I understand it would be challenging to remove. The branches protruding into your image from the right side and in the lower corner are also a little distracting. I'm undecided if the reflections in the glass around the entrance door are a distraction or if they add interest to this image. In any case, a polarizing filter attached to your lens might have removed those reflections. This is a very pleasing image, and I think you succeeded nicely with the B&W conversion. Jul 10th
9 Jul 25 Comment Randy, I have taken moon shot images, but none have turned out as nice as yours. Your exposure setting created a very soft texture on the water's surface and the reflection of the moonlight is very realistic. I like the color in the sky and the star effect radiating from the moon adds a great touch to this photo. This is a warm, calm and inviting image. Great job! Jul 10th
9 Jul 25 Comment Sabine, at first, I thought this was a multiple exposure, or composite, and was surprised to learn what was involved in creating this image. This is a beautiful arrangement of color and shape forming a beautiful abstract. The green leaves and stems along with the brown stems lead me directly to all the differently shaped purple blossoms, which are easily discernable as flower blossoms to me. The abstract qualities in this image are captivating. I like the flipped image from the original as well, much more appealing. I think everything you did was perfect and there is nothing I can recommend to improve this image or your process. But I am curious to know how you managed the ice from melting on your light table. Beautiful image, very nicely done. Jul 9th
9 Jul 25 Reply Thank you for your kind words Sylvia. I'm glad the information I share is helpful to you. Honestly, I play around with the tools in Lightroom Classic hoping for the best and never being fully satisfied with the final results. This particular image was challenging to create enough detail separation within all the green. Like I said, each time I look at this, I'm tempted to make further adjustments. Jul 9th
9 Jul 25 Comment Silvia, close-ups of flowers are one of my favorites, in particular, abstract or impressionist images. Creative blossom images captured by what the photographer sees through the lens are one of a kind, and yours does not disappoint.
I like how the colors and patterns of each out-of-focus blossom drives my attention to the sharp petals in the center of the blossom. The sharp yellow strands at the base of the pedals add additional interest and I like the soft background colors which are complementary, adding a nice balance to the image. I might consider using a mask over the sharp pedals in the center to increase the exposure, whites and/or highlights just a little. As a focal point, this might create a little more separation from the surrounding area.
This image makes me appreciate nature's work involving the opening of each pedal to form a beautiful flower. Very nicely done.

21 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Michael Jul 27th
21 Jul 25 Reply Leslie, I gave it another go, this time with proper Clone settings. What do you think? Jul 24th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks Leslie. I hadn't really noticed that black line until you mentioned it again. I played with this issued in photoshop using the green side, not very successfully. I will try the yellow side and see if that makes a difference. Thanks again for your second response. Jul 24th
21 Jul 25 Comment Great shot Micheal. Tack sharp with great color. Background is good. Overall a great shot. Jul 17th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for trying Mike, much appreciated. Jul 17th
21 Jul 25 Comment Mike, it's always fun for me to see birds I've never seen before and this one doesn't disappoint. The poise of the bird is great and the colors are striking. While the beak and eye looks tack sharp to me, the eye does seem a little cloudy. There is a light halo around the birds beak and head, would this be from over sharpening? Jul 17th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks Don. Jul 16th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for your efforts Marilyn. The problem is that the black area is over exposed and lacks any kind of detail. But, maybe someone else will be successful. Jul 15th
21 Jul 25 Comment Ted, this is a great action shot of the bird and the fish it caught, tells a great story. I agree with Tom's comments. Jul 13th
21 Jul 25 Comment Don, This is a nice composite of two ducks and until I read your story line, I did not notice (and still dont) that this was a composite. Your positioning of the male duck was done well. Your photo is a bit flat but the work done by Tom creates much more detail in the feathers and brings out more color. Nice image. Jul 13th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thank you Marilyn, the blackest part of this image is the area you mentioned, just above the eye. I worked on that area for some time, always resulting in an unnatural look. I'll give another go at it. Now that I focused on that small leaf you refer to, it does look oversharpened. I will definitely work on this area. Thank you so much for your feedback Marilyn, very much appreciated. Jul 13th
21 Jul 25 Comment Marilyn, I like the pose of the bird, who sat so patiently while you took this shot. The dark exposure kind of hides much of the detail for me, so I applied a mask to the bird and increased the exposure a bit, which highlights detail across the bird nicely. The eye is great, really sharp and bright and didn't require any further processing. The feathers and beak are sharp with lots of detail. Really a very nice shot. Jul 11th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks Leslie. I agree, adjusting the black area was a challenge for me. Just couldn't get it right. Jul 10th
21 Jul 25 Reply Thanks Tom. Jul 10th
21 Jul 25 Comment Tom, how interesting it is to see a hawk sitting in a pool of water. The bird's reflection in the water with its mouth open really adds to this story. The catch light is a nice touch as well. The background is a little distracting for me. I applied a mask to the bird and its reflection and made minor adjustments to whites and exposure, and another mask to the background with minor adjustments to exposure and lens blur. I also applied a light vignette. I think this created some separation from the bird and background, but these kinds of adjustments may be contrary to your intentions. What do you think? Jul 10th
21 Jul 25 Comment Leslie, this is an amazing capture of the birds face. The detail and color are great. The catchlight in the red and black areas of the eye bring life to this image and the small aperture setting creates a very nice starburst in the larger catchlight. The color and sharp detail in the eye is captivating. A stunning image. Great job! Jul 3rd

42 Jul 25 Comment Charles, You captured the best side of this horse, and I do believe the horse grinning at you. You really captured great color and texture in the horses hide throughout its body, its very realistic. The braided hair and colorful halter (?) across its face really adds to the story line. A very nice photo. Jul 17th
