Sabine, the Hidden object picture seems like a very appropriate description of your photo. So many details with very interesting Architectural designs throughout. The different stores on two levels, kiosks and three levels of dining provide lots of detail to explore.
With all the details, it is the gold-colored ceiling trim and brown colored parquet (wood?) floor design that grab my attention. Lots of photo opportunities in those details alone. Research tells me the structure was destroyed by fire and was rebuilt. Does the new structure include a glass ceiling design like the original? Well done.

Yvonne, I like the improvement to the exposure and colors you made from the original. As I revisit your image, I am enjoying it more each time as it does remind me of Japanese Art. To that extent, I think you succeeded in capturing the beauty of these lovely blossoms and creating a very creative and inspirational work, as shown by others on the team trying something different. Eventually, I needed to try my hand.
Shooting wide open resulted in a shallow depth of field as evidenced by the in focus and sharp small group of blossoms in the center of your image, which is where my eye eventually gravitates to. So, I thought I would start there and see what I could create with a focus on that part of your image. In the end, I prefer the work you did instead. Very nice job.

Thank you Sylvia. I researched and was surprise to learn what a liminal image is. Very interesting, and thank you for your feedback. |

Sabine, thank you for your comments. I remember your past comments to others in the group about flipping images, something I never think to consider. So, when performing post processing now, I always give that a consideration, which I think worked well in this case. I have also been practicing the use of masks when post processing, and am very happy with the results here. |

Sylvia, fantastic composition of subject matter that comes all together to tell an interesting story. I have visited this image multiple times and like Yvonne, I'm always drawn to the Torii gate and shrine and its surrounding area. Every element in this photo is interesting, but a separate crop of the shrine and surrounding area could be made that would tell a story full of mystery all on its own. Very nicely done. |

Linda, your B&W images always impress. I like the conversion you made from the original off white to total white. I also like your post processing clean-up of distracting parts shown in the original image. This is a very interesting composition of shadows, but what is most interesting to me is the shadow of water spray that appears to be flowing from the mans head to the pavement. Of course, I know it is the shadow of water splashed from the water puddle onto the pavement that you removed from the original, but not knowing that, one wonders why is the man pouring water of his head? I like the story the shadows tell of the entire composition. Very nicely done. |

Thanks Randy. Your original photo is very nice as well, but I agree with your rational for going B&W. |

Doug, my first camera was film with a 100mm macro lens and I spent many hours at the local Botanical Gardens learning how to use this equipment on the variety of flower blossoms, but mostly taking photos of tulips. Great subject matter to learn from.
I like the angle and focus on the center of the blossom positioned between the two red blossoms. The depth of field used to bring focus only to the yellow blossom I think is done well. The detail captured in the center of the blossom is sharp and the color is beautiful. It's great to see signs that spring is finally here. I don't know if you intended to compose the image with the highlights in the background, so I hope you don't mind that I deleted what I thought were little distractions. What do you think? Otherwise, a very nice reminder that spring has arrived.

Randy, I really like this photo. The original would be interesting to see as a comparison, but the conversion to B&W is striking. Everything is in focus and sharp with great detail. The bridge's period architecture is very interesting and composing this shot was done very well. Really like the detail in the sky as well. This is an image I can look at over and over again at all the detail. Some detail is lost in some areas of the blacks, but it is so minimal that in my opinion, takes nothing away from the overall image. Very well done. |

Ted, I really like the form of the bird which is a perfect in flight capture. The eye is sharp and the bird overall also seems sharp. I think the crop you chose is perfect as well. The pixelated effect on the overall image does make it a little challenging for me to discern and comment on other photo characteristics, i.e. color, feather details, etc.. but I do enjoy revisiting this image for the favorable characteristics I described. |

Great shot Marilyn. I'm a bit envious of your success. As often as I search and try, I never find the opportunity to photo shoot a bird of prey. It's on my photographic bucket list. I like your background color and the bokeh effect and the Level of detail is great. I agree with others comments and enhancing the eye directs my attention to the birds face. Very nice job. |

Wow, what an action photo. Not knowing what an Anhinga is, I researched and learned about another bird I've never seen or heard about. Amazing shot with great color. Capturing the eyes in both the bird and fish make this an interesting story. Nice job. |

I'm relatively new at taking photos of birds, and I always question whether I'm using the correct camera settings when taking shots. So I am impressed with the quality of your image with the camera settings you chose at the focal length used. Very nice. |

Leslie, beautiful image with such a vibrant red color. The detail and sharpness from top to bottom is excellent, especially the eye, which I think makes this image. How lucky to get this pose and in this setting too. Very nice. |

Nice in flight capture Mike. Great color and sharp across the image, even with a little catch light and a few trailing drops of water. I like seeing the spread and color of the wing feathers. Nice image. I am curious what the shutter speed was for this shot. |

Tom, this is an amazing shot. The color is just stunning. What luck to have both birds positioned as they are side by side in their setting with nesting materials, almost as though the scene was choregraphed. Very nice photo. |

Thanks Tom. I was so focused on creating balance with the ducks head and water reflection when cropping during post processing that I simply overlooked balance of the overall image. Your rework of the photo definitely improves the photo. Thanks again Tom. |
