Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
9 Oct 24 Comment Linda, this image is fascinating. My eye is immediately drawn to the black/gray spokes proportionally spaced against the white background at the center of the image. The contrasting shades of gray starting from the black edges of the image gravitating to the white center is striking. The surface texture on the column on the left adds another dimension to the contrasting shades of gray. The varying curvature of the different shapes, along with the spotlights, brings this image together very well. Great job! Oct 16th
9 Oct 24 Comment This is a striking black and white image, and your background story makes this a very interesting photo. Your transplanted photo looks as though it was always hanging there on the wall. Your post processing efforts, which cannot be appreciated without seeing the original, are very impressive and leave me with a unique perspective of your work. The more I study your image the more I enjoy it. Nicely done.
I also had to look up Raffael and found that it is sold here in the Montreal area as well, so it's now on my list to try.

9 Oct 24 Comment Yvonne, I appreciate the backstory which help to put this image into perspective. I like the B&W more than the color.
I'm drawn to the image created by the center arch and the two small arches on either side along with the clouds within this view. This is where my focus is, and where I find the image most appealing. I cropped the image and removed some things I find distracting but doesn't detract from your story line, I don't think. How interesting this visit must have been. I enjoy spending time in these old historical places. Nice photo Yvonne.

9 Oct 24 Reply Douglas, I used radial masks on both eyes to sharpen a little. What do you think? Oct 13th
9 Oct 24 Reply Thanks Douglas, the work you did reinforces the feedback from group members. I'll revisit this image and rework with recommendations. Oct 13th
9 Oct 24 Comment Great pose of the dog with good catchlight in the eyes. Good angle of the camera as well, with a nice soft background. Beautiful color of the fur, and while the shallow dept of field is a nice overall look, the eyes look just a little too soft to me. A very nice photo of a great looking dog. Oct 13th
9 Oct 24 Comment Your composition is done well, especially the strap which brings back memories of my own. The colors are great with the yellow film canister, and I like the idea to bring into focus only parts of the strap and camera, however, bringing the canister into focus with the strap I think would make for a better image. Maybe even better without the canister. The camera and strap are very interesting by themselves as the quality of the camera and lens builds speak volumes of days past and makes for an interesting photo alone. It is an appealing composition which is fun to look at. Oct 12th
9 Oct 24 Reply The final image I submitted seemed to me to be the best approach to providing enough information that gave the viewer an idea of what they were looking at. However, removing the upper left corner seems to be the consensus of the group's feedback which I agree with. But the more I look at the changes you made to my image, the more it appeals to me, even more so without the branches. Less distractions with just enough information, I think, for a viewer to recognize the overall view as flowing water. I especially like the improvements you made to the white turbulent water, which seems to give it another dimension. Very nicely done. In my mind, it is a much-improved abstract that I am liking more and more. Thank you, Sabine. Oct 12th
9 Oct 24 Reply Thanks Yvonne. The color image seems to appeal more to the team. Oct 12th
9 Oct 24 Reply Thanks Charles, I struggled with drawing out more detail in the water, but I will revisit this and work on it. Oct 12th
9 Oct 24 Reply Very resourceful using your kneeling pad. But I have to say, to me the backdrop could pass for an evening night sky. This is really a pleasing image for me to look at. Oct 11th
9 Oct 24 Reply You may be right that the size of the dam adds little value to the image and may be a distraction as well. Attached is another shot with a little more of the dam showing, though there are many more branches to remove. Leaving the branches might add more to the story, but may also be a distraction. What do you think? Thanks for your comments Randy, much appreciated. Oct 9th
9 Oct 24 Comment This is a beautiful scene. My eye is immediately drawn to the graceful dance posture of each mushroom, as though it were a choreographed ballet performance. Very nice. It looks as though you were flat on the ground, eye level. I assume the background is the sky? The darkness of the background with green leaves and dark ground cover adds to the story line well. While the flashlight is fundamental to the scene, I think some highlights do detract from the scene a bit (personal taste). I did a few things in lightroom and photoshop that may or may not add to the scene. What do you think?
Increased exposure a little to bring out the blue color that was already in the background. This was a personal choice, either one works. Applied an object mask to all stems and decreased highlights a little and Increased temperature a little to add warmth to the highlights. I applied a brush mask with the same settings to highlight areas in the foreground. Really a very nice scene.
