Thank you Linda. During my initial post processing exercise, I tried different formats and first considered a rectangle crop as you suggest. leave space in the direction the subject in pointed, is a rule of thumb I have learned from previous PSA team member critiques of previous photo's of mine. However, I chose the square crop for this image mostly because there was less post-processing tasks involved, I'm lazy by nature (ha). But, I think your right, I could have kept to the rule of thumb and not have taken anything away from the photo. |

Yvonne, along with the comments by Douglas and Sabine, the subjects knowledge of photography, her wardrobe and body language collectively make her an even more interesting person to know. I'm curious to see what her face and coat will look like in your final B&W product when the contrast between light and dark are refined. A very interesting photo. |

The exposure is right on. Great color, interesting background that is out of focus just enough to not distract from the subject, which is in focus and sharp. I also like the position of the subject in the upper left corner of the frame, and his composure while gazing into space leaves me wondering what the rest of the story is. Very nicely done Doug. |

Great photo of a time gone by. Great color, sharp across the photo, realistic, very interesting. Great shot! Curious, was a tripod used? |

Thanks Douglas. So many Butterflies, many opportunities. I got lucky with this one. YouTube is my go-to source for learning the tools in photoshop, along with instruction from folks like Anthony Morganti, Matt Kloskowski. Then its practice, practice, practice. My problem, I forget what I learned then have to start all over again. |

A very interesting photo of nature at work. I'm always amazed at how a spider can singularly weave such a detailed structure and in this case, using the arch of the branch for support. The dew drops on each thread really adds to the visual impact, and the image of the entire web is in focus and sharp. The B&W conversion woks better too. I think you succeeded, it does look spooky! |

Amazing leading lines! Great color contrast, various geometric shapes and texture throughout. The leading lines and your shadow does make this a very interesting story as it relates to your life's journey. Very nice. |

Wow! changes to the image I never thought of doing myself. I like the effect of the painting Roy. Did reducing the texture alone create the Painted look? |

Thanks Kathie for the additional information. I have taken similar photos of a grouping of birds in flight, but never seem to obtain the sharpness of all the birds as you did in this photo. I see your F9 setting which helps depth of field, but do you remember what your auto focus area was used while taking the photo? Thanks again Kathie. |

Great pose of a woodpecker in its natural setting with the vines and tree, little bit of green leaf and soft bokeh make this a great image. My personal preference would be to make little local adjustments to the bird to create a little more separation between the bird and the tree. Very nice image Julia. |

I tend to agree with both yours's and Sylvia's comments and cropped the image to bring more focus on the duck and less on the water. Maybe still a little too much competition between the water and the duck, but I do believe cropping does improve the image. Thanks Charles, your input is much appreciated. |

Very nice photo of birds in flight. A different wing position of each bird in the formation makes this an interesting photo. The color contrast between the sky and birds is nicely done.
I'm curious of your camera settings used to obtain the sharpness across the entire flock as you did. |

Beautiful image with a great pose. I really enjoy seeing all the detail in the feathers and the color is fantastic. The Bokeh creates good separation. Very nice. |

Just a beautiful overall image! Agree with all comments noted above. It would be interesting to see the original images. I'm assuming a tripod was used? Nicely done. |

Hans, fantastic image with great action and color. Agree with noted comments above. The random oval patterns reflected on the surface of the water adds to the overall interest of the image. Was a filter used on your lens? Kind of looks like a gold/blue polarizer. Very nice. |

Sylvia, I really like the composition of the bird and tree against the blue sky. The color and detail of both the bird and tree and the pose of the bird makes for a very interesting image. I agree with above comments regarding grain and sharpness, something that can be addressed in post-processing, but am impressed with the quality of your image taken from a hand-held position using a long lens, not an easy task. Very nice. |
