9 Sep 23 Reply Thank you Sabine. Choosing the best crop format is always a challenge for me, so I appreciate your comment. Sep 20th
9 Sep 23 Comment I've had to review this photo several times in order to appreciate what I see. Your adjustments to the original are done well. The yellow paint, the language written on each surface, the locked door, the crumbling stone wall, the age of it all. All the elements leaves me wanting to know more about the story that's being told. Great job! Sep 17th

9 Sep 23 Comment Nice side profile of the butterfly with good detail of the wings, antennae and eye. The velvet texture and color of the wings with the hair around its face is detailed nicely as well. Never easy capturing an Image on moving targets. Good crop from the original photo. My eye is drawn to the tall green stem in the foreground. I think a little more crop to eliminate that stem and a little from the top of the photo would keep my attention more on the butterfly, but also leaving enough space to the right of the butterfly so it has someplace to go. How much to crop is never easy for me to decide, too little, too much. However, anything that distracts me from the point of interest is usually where I start. I also realize that what I find as a distraction may very well be a necessary part of the image for someone else. In any case, nice capture Sabine. Sep 14th

9 Sep 23 Comment Cindy, I really like the geometric shapes captured throughout the image, and the brick work is really amazing, what an artisan that brick layer was. The brick detail and colors work really well to tell a story. Everything is clear and sharp. I think removal of the part of the tree that touches the roof line would be less distracting to me, and maybe even removal of the entire tree from this image, though I understand it may be important to you to be there. Would more blue (luminosity?) to the sky add a little separation between the sky and building? Very nicely done. Sep 10th
9 Sep 23 Comment Doug, I'm not a street photographer, no matter how hard I try, I just don't have a knack for it, but I am captivated by this image every time I look at it. Every detail contributes to the making of a great story, so much to see. Very well done. The overall image seems just a little flat to me. I might add a little contrast, maybe some dehaze, and a little boost to the colors. Otherwise, its a great shot. Sep 10th
9 Sep 23 Comment Sylvia, what a great shot! I've never seen this moth so to see a side profile of all the physical characteristics while in flight is very interesting. The detail in the proboscis, antennae, legs and wings are great. Is the moth as large, and does it have the same movements as a hummingbird? I like it's approach to the flower blossom and the bokeh behind the moth is perfect. Nicely done. Sep 10th
9 Sep 23 Comment Yvonne, I really had to chuckle when first looking at this image. As you said, the similarity between the shapes and colors of the background flower blossoms to the woman's hair makes for a great interesting shot. Adjustments made in post processing compared to the original are done well too. Sep 10th

21 Sep 23 Comment Tom, this is an amazing photo! The look of determination in the eye of the blue Heron and the frantic desperation movements of the snake tells the story. Great shot! Sep 4th

42 Sep 23 Reply I'm retired now 1 1/2 yrs, am married to a French Canadian and we live north of Montreal, Quebec. Now, I try to spend more time with my hobby and find this site helps me with constructive feedback, needed for I still have a lot to learn. I was surprised to see work at this site from someone I know. I always enjoyed your Science Museum club submittals. I've been a member here for about 3-4 months and am in groups 9 & 97. Sep 7th
42 Sep 23 Comment Charles, great action shot. Lots of stuff to see throughout the image, but really like the separation of the dust, bull rider and bull from the background. Are you still with the science museum camera club? Sep 4th

97 Sep 23 Reply This is such a beautiful bird with all its physical features so clearly defined, and to my eye, it's much more fun to look at without the distractions. I didn't know such a creature existed! Really nice capture Roy. Sep 7th
97 Sep 23 Comment Love the color and detail in the feathers. The birds posture and position of its head is also great. I'm always watching for owls when I'm out, but have never been lucky enough to see one. Along with Roys suggestion, I might also add a little more space above the owls head to match the space at the bottom. Great shot! Sep 5th
97 Sep 23 Reply Thanks Kathleen, the bird was on the pavers and actually several feet away from the edge of the lawn. The low position of the camera, focal length used, and distance between the bird and focal plane creates the illusion that the bird is in the grass. Sep 5th
97 Sep 23 Comment Hi Kathie, great color, sharpness and definition in the blacks and highlights. Other than maybe a little smaller crop, nothing else to add except that it's a great looking image! Sep 5th
97 Sep 23 Comment Thanks Sylvia, now that you mention it, the basement window does make a perfect blind! Sep 5th

97 Sep 23 Comment What a great capture of the eagle in its full glory, doesn't get any better. And with the verticals cliff as a backdrop make this a very interesting photo. I have no recommendations, except I think that the modifications made by both Kathie and Roy do seem to create some separation between the eagle and background. Sep 4th
97 Sep 23 Comment Roy, the exotic features, mix of different color and good exposure make this a really nice image. The catch light in the eye adds to the image as well. I might have tried to delete some of the branches to the left and upper right of the bird which, to me, distract slightly from the main focus of the bird. Still, everything else about this photo is fun to look at. Sep 4th
97 Sep 23 Comment Great composition of these two birds and the birds colors against the blue sky are striking. Exposure settings to capture detail throughout, especially in the feather highlights, is spot on. Very nice image. Sep 4th
97 Sep 23 Comment Hi Sylvia, nice sharp image with great color contrast between the bird and background. Agree with previous crop recommendations. We never see Oriole's in our yard and just recently learned about the grape jelly, so I'm anxious to try my luck this spring. Very nice image. Sep 4th
