While I think I do prefer Sabine's crop, I don't even think I noticed the pipe. My eye definitely focused on your nephew then easily went to see what he was looking at. I love the story it tells. If you have a photo of his drawing, it would be cool to somehow merge the two photos - or at least make a collage.
and I agree - love the story it tells!

Thank you. My daughter was a good sport. I took a first round but realized at the end that I was too close. So I backed up the tripod and started over. But I forgot to re-take one of the poses and had to shrink the first pose I took.
I would have like to make it look like the card players where actually talking to each other or things like that. |

Thank you! It was more time consuming and learning from mistakes than anything. I should have started with less poses. |

I love the bright colors! I did not even notice the softness of the some of the trees branches until I read what you wrote - so I think my eye went right to the window and the detail below the window. I favor a shallow depth of field myself and then I forget to change settings between shots, and often get similar results. |

Of course I had to read the whole story - very interesting!
I see what you are saying about the lines of the sidewalk and the house - the sidewalk kind of makes the photo look like it needs to be straightened. I guess it is the angle of your camera? |

That is a really cool sculpture.
I think that I actually like the original better - in it, to me, it seems like the sculpture and the seashell are together, like mom and dad, and young carnation needs to be quiet.
In the one you posted, I thin that because the shell is covered by the filter it is a bit distracting.
In any case it is a very interesting photo!

I did not take notice of the wood when I looked at the parrot. But now I can't not see it and agree with you. |

Nice shot! I have not had the opportunity to get them feeding. Mostly I see them high up in a tree. |

Thanks for the tip! I would never have occurred to me to do that as it was a bright day, but now that you say it, I can see how it makes sense. I will try boosting my exposure compensation at my next opportunity |

I am so glad you were able to recover from the tornado and get this shot to us! It is gorgeous. The detail amazing - tack sharp. And I love a bokeh!
Also, I was not aware that you had 56 species of parrots (well, that there even are 56 species of parrots). It must be so nice to see they birds flying about.
This is really a beautiful photo. |

Great capture! I love that not only did you get the duck but you got the little fish! I'm curious if he was able to get more than one fish - or was this is a case of I don't have to be faster than the duck - just faster than you? |

I wish I could have seen this! Did the bird to a flip? This is a great shot - I love the reflection. If you have a better photo that then to enter in your competition I'd love to see it - as this one is fantastic. |

I know that the main purpose of this group is to suggest ways for improvement, but as usual, I have nothing for you :)
This is a great shot. The herons look regal to me, surveying their kingdom. |
