A great image of the main subject, but I do find the blurred image on the post rather a distraction. However I think the wires added a story to the image, I found myself imagining the Owl using them for jumping practice. Great job. |

You are so lucky seeing wildlife in your own backyard is so wonderful (I know there are some who would not agree with me.)
I have to agree to my eye it is a little soft, but do go for it with your 500mm lens, the more you work with it the easier it becomes. Good luck you will love it. ALthough I only use mine on the tripod, since I broke both wrists I find even my 400mm lens too heavy to hand hold for long.

What a great shot, It has been sometime since I spotted a Grey Ghost. You have captured this one well. BIF particularly a swift flyer like this is not easy to get, but you managed although to my eye the bird is a little soft. I agree with Mike, I too would recommend a faster shutter speed, and to compensate Auto ISO. My mentor at our club recommends manual mode a shutter speed of at least 1/3200 and Auto ISO. It works for me the majority of the time. There is nothing I would change with your image, and I am envious you managed to get a shot of this bird. |

What a great shot. One can sense the power in the animal. I think it is a great image, which tells at least for me a story of the wildnerness. The only distraction is the bright area of the tree trunk. unfortunately it was the first thing that drew my eye. But an awesome shot none the less, One that all wildlife photographers hope to get. |

This is a well composed image, I like the detail in the Butterfly, The orange, I found really led my eye immediately to the subject. Although adding a vignette would really make the subject the center of attention, I agree if you plan to enter it in the nature division you would want to avoid it. Only add it if you plan to print and hang the image. There is nothing I would change in this. |
