Thank you Tammy, Yes the GBH are very plentiful here, I am always glad I have at least a 400mm lens with me, although there have been times when the birds have come up close to me too.

Thank you Pamela, I agree about the color of the sky, I have since re-edited it and I think the sky is much better now. |

A nice subject, and I do like the way you have cropped it, the color of the bird is so natural. Having been caught doing this so often, I tend to notice it now, but it looks as though maybe you have over sharpened, resulting in a slight halo on the bird's back. Nice light and bokeh, making for a very pleasing image. |

I really like the colors in this, and the way the leading lines lead the eye to the main focal area. The only thing I find a little distracting, and it might just be me, are the large water drops, on the lower left of the petal itself. For some reason, to my eye, they don't look like bokeh or water drops. But the color and subject is delightful.

Hi Mike, Thank you. You are right about, the sky particularly being over saturated, and I have corrected it. I actually have also made this into a B&W image, which I think is even better. But I confess I am very partial to B&W photography. I have not been to Viera, several people have told me it is not as good as it once was. Merrit Island is great though. |

Hi Judith, this is a Great Blue Heron, something I see so often here in Florida. Thank you for your kind comments. I really enjoy photographing birds and wildlife. Luckily we were on a field trip with our Photo club, so the boat captain did his very best to keep the boat's movement to a minimum.

Hi Tammy, Welcome, I too am a new member here, so am just feeling my way around. I have been watching three humming birds at my feeders, two in an aerial dog fight, and the third nipping in to feed.
Your image is stunning, the bird is tack sharp against the dark background. I read Mike's comments, and agree with him in selecting the plant and bringing the shadows up a bit. the light hits the leaves nicely. |

Thank you Sharon, You are correct, I do use animal eye focus. (both of my Sony cameras have it.) Like you I like the golden glow, but know not everyone does. Right now I have no plans to enter it for a contest, since there is still so much to learn. I like your suggestion of bringing up the shadows on the bird, and will try it to see how it looks.

This composition really works for me, my eyes rest on the plant, then are drawn naturally to the blossom. I never like even numbers for plants and flowers, so three elements here work perfectly. Any more or even any less, IMHO would be a distraction.

A great capture and the bird looks so at ease and the eye is sharp and clear. My only suggestion would be to darken the metal fence bar, I find it rather distracts from the beautiful bird, however I really like that smooth creamy background. |

I like this image and how it has been post processed. The colors on the blossom are subtle, and very realistic. I can see nothing needs doing to improve the photo it is lovely. |
