9 Aug 25 Comment Your photo captures the sentiment that often we find beauty in the imperfections of life. From the weathered wood, the chipped paint, the bushes needing trimming, and the slightly askew overhead light fixture one finds a doorway that is less concerned with fussiness than providing a welcome and a home-place.

Great eye, Linda - and your treatment of the photo makes it even more inviting!

9 Aug 25 Comment Hi Randy!

This really appeals to me - I like geometric shapes and clear lines - the only thing I did was try to fix the missing brick at the apex. Used the basic Apple clean up and it didn't do a great job…

9 Aug 25 Comment The color palette in the photo is stunning - gorgeous fall colors that capture the feel of the woods.

I just played a bit and kept some more of the bark and background…

9 Aug 25 Comment There's a lot going on in your photo - all good stuff with vibrant colors. Can't be easy to capture!

Just for fun, I isolated the butterfly (just with Apple clean up tool) - and while it didn't do a great job, it is interesting to see the Monarch by itself.

9 Aug 25 Comment Terrific job capturing a still from a video - not easy to get a quality image!

The only thing I did was take a bit off the bottom and also straightened the bank to be horizontal. Could just be my obsessive eye that compelled me to do it!

9 Aug 25 Comment It's a treat to see photos from your part of the world! I also enjoy the symbiosis of the land, animals, and humans in partnership to protect and relish the environment.

This is a wonderful example of a picture telling a complex story - and it's beautifully framed and cropped!

Thank you…

47 Aug 25 Comment Hi Barbara,

Your photo reminds me of one of those "can you identify this?" puzzles. I think in color it's more obvious that they are feathers, but in mono it could have been a palm tree trunk or another plant. I admire the variety in textures and feather types in just a small frame.

Thank you!

47 Aug 25 Comment At first glance, I wanted more definition and clarity but then as I read Robert's comments it made sense that the picture should be a bit murky and dark. Having never been in that part of the world, it can get a sense of what it must be like -- especially the less popular areas. Aug 14th
47 Aug 25 Comment I love the expression of the subject -- to me, it's a mix of fear and aggression -- pain and strength. Yes, it's a bit flat but I read it as protective and not giving her captures an edge.

I'm fine with the background especially with all of the ink on the model. The circuit board was a stroke of genius -- completely sells the "cyborg"!

Thank you!

47 Aug 25 Comment This is a powerful image -- and just because of the weights involved. I'm drawn to gritty photos that are clearly not staged or posed. I also think it's a great example of why monochrome captures very different feels and nuance than color. Really well done!

PS I have a photo in the member showcase that's a weight lifter as well. Very different!

47 Aug 25 Comment Hi Robert,

I also prefer the color image as it adds more subtlety. That said, I think the monochrome version works and I'm impressed with how the sunbeams appear (to me) to be spotlights from the ground up! I'm envious of your grilling location!

47 Aug 25 Reply Hi Albert,

You're right -- totally. I was spending a lot of time on the technical aspects of the photo and failed to consider whether anyone would really want to look at it! Your words are an excellent reminder of that. Thank you!
