Douglas, For the red pop of color I didn't mask but desaturated all colors but red. If you want to try on a photo, move your saturation slider in the negative direction to remove colors then move slider in the positive direction to add color/colors of your choice.
I did crop some of the bottom branch. But stopped to preserve the red leaves on the ground . Thank you for your comments. |

Randy, Thank you for your comments. The blur with the leaf lightening would enhance the image. |

Randy, I love the tones in Old & New. The house has so much to explore from the crooked windows to the roof slates. I got lost in the photo imagining its history. I can see granny waving someone in before the storm hits. I agree with Sylvia's juxtaposition comment about the old and new windmills. Although I'm a city girl, this image creates nostalgic feelings of simpler times. Great composition! |

Jim, Love the floating nature of your image. Part of the beauty is not being able to distinguish the sky from the water. Going with the color version was a good choice. Great image. |

Sylvia, Thank you for introducing the Japanese wabi-sabi philosophy. A web site article by Omar Itani says wabi-sabi motions us to constantly reach for the beauty in imperfection and accept the more natural cycle of life.
Your image is perfectly composed to address viewing beauty in imperfection. The fading flower looking into the mirror and dropping a leaf...aging. The detail of the dried petals have beauty. Great thoughtful composition! |

Linda, The contrasting colors and details are very rich and subliminal. Viewing the different shapes and ice drops are mesmerizing. Glimmers of Ice also reminds me of Hokusai's Wave. Great image. |

Douglas, Quite the alluring image! After looking at the original the sepia tone enhances the texture. It calls your attention to the lines of model's muscles and back drop lines. The muscle and back drop kind of mimic each other. Love the color and texture. |

Sabine, The softness of Lantern Flower is very soothing. The colors give it an airy feeling while the dark vase adds dimension. Thank you for detailing your painterly photography process. It's on my list to try along with your flashlight tricks. This is a great fine art piece. |
