Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
9 Mar 26 Reply Randy, As you mentioned, the start was a bit chaotic. I was standing in the front row, but someone kept running into the frame anyway. The moment was just so brief, and it was only thanks to the burst mode that I was able to take so many photos.
Thanks for your comments.

9 Mar 26 Reply Linda, thank you for writing such a detailed review of my photo.
Yes, it's quite difficult to get all the cyclists in the right position. Plus, other spectators usually wander in front of the camera while you're taking pictures.

Ultimately, I chose this photo because the cyclist is in focus, smiling, and pedaling energetically.

9 Mar 26 Reply That was a good suggestion, Douglas. Thank you.

I think the image should be a shade brighter overall.

9 Mar 26 Reply Around Hildesheim's market square, one magnificent half-timbered house follows another, the most famous being the Butchers' Guildhall: Hundreds of carved and painted works of art adorn the former guildhall. Every beam is unique.

That's why I chose the black and white conversion. It's meant to give the photo a historical touch, just as you described.

Thanks for your comments, Sylvia.

9 Mar 26 Reply Thanks, Jim, for your detailed analysis of the image.
I'm glad you could see the participants' excitement in the picture.
I'll try your suggestion of darkening the white border.

9 Mar 26 Comment Yvonne, that was a real challenge, which I gladly accepted. Thank you for that.

I was able to see (through my own editing) that you did a really great job with the image editing.

First, about the image itself. This bright, luminous building in contrast to the dark sky is very interesting. Then, from the right, comes this wonderful light, probably from a lamp.
This bright spot immediately drew me in. I had the feeling a meteor was flying by.
(A meteor just fell from the sky in Germany, and the people who witnessed it described the phenomenon in exactly the same way.)
I also really like the perspective.

There are two things I might change.
Firstly, I would try to straighten the drainpipes, as Douglas and Linda pointed out. Then the facade won't tilt so much.
In Photoshop, I do this with a vertical line and the Transform and Distort tool.
Secondly, I would intensify the yellow and red colors a bit more so that the lamp shines even brighter.

I'm curious to see what suggestions the AI has for your image.

9 Mar 26 Comment Sylvia, at first glance I didn't realize how badly the shopping center was in such bad shape. That's probably because it looks so clean. Shopping centers aren't attractive here anymore either; most people shop online.

Your chosen perspective draws me in and makes me sense how much life used to thrive there. Now there are almost only closed shops, two chairs, and a bit of greenery.

The image thrives on what you don't see, the "negative space."
Personally, I don't mind the silver railing. Perhaps you could tone down the shine a bit.

Black and white makes your image even more impactful.

Your lens was a great purchase; everything is really sharp at that aperture.
I'm looking forward to seeing more photos with your new lens.

9 Mar 26 Comment Linda, your patience has paid off. You've captured the perfect scene. Two men in conversation, sitting calmly and relaxed at a table. They're drinking wine and water, exchanging information about their jobs, hobbies, or worries. Perhaps they're father and son; the age difference is noticeable.

The chosen black and white conversion puts the men clearly in the foreground, while
everything else in the background is much brighter and therefore less important. Just background elements for a well-told story.

Thank you for this snapshot.

9 Mar 26 Comment Douglas, my heart melted the moment I first saw the picture. What a cute dog, what a funny scene!

You have to see it to believe it! Fantastic!

I love the picture just the way it is. It has the perfect format, the dog is the focus, framed by the objects that tell the story.

If the dog had also had a stick or a ball in its mouth, that would have been the icing on the cake.

9 Mar 26 Comment Jim, you've captured a wonderful autumnal scene in your photograph.

„Still ruht der See" (The lake rests still) is the title of a song that immediately came to mind.

The composition is divided into thirds to show the reflections.
I would crop the image a bit more, to a 2:3 ratio. This would place that vibrant group of trees precisely in the center of the middle row, thus drawing the viewer's eye directly.

What do you think about intensifying the colors, as Yvonne and Douglas suggested?
I tried it myself, and it reminds me of Indian Summer.

But it's perfectly fine if you think she's gone overboard ;-).

Thanks for the beautiful landscape photo.

9 Mar 26 Comment Randy, I can hear the water rushing and feel the mist on my face.

Everything about your photo is just right. First of all, the section you chose to focus on.
The rock on the right behind the "rock nose" adds depth to the picture for me.
The colors go wonderfully with the shot.

Perhaps you could enhance them, as Yvonne suggested.

My idea for your picture would be to crop a little off the bottom edge.
For me, the waterfall and the green area compete with each other. My eye wanders back and forth between the two.

Thank you for this lively landscape shot.

9 Mar 26 Reply Thank you, Yvonne, for taking the time to edit my picture.
A vignette is an interesting idea. Thanks for that; I'll definitely try it out.

I also like the original color version. It's definitely worth editing, because you can see more detail in the clothing, just as you mentioned.
