You're absolutely right, Doug, those two elements are distracting. Thank you for your suggestion for improvement. |

Jim, You're right, without the fishing boats the picture wouldn't be as interesting.
Two days later, the season ended and the boats disappeared. |

I've never really thought about the meaning of a rainbow. What you've written about it has got me thinking. Thank you for that, Yvonne. |

Randy, I've seen quite a few rainbows. But mostly over the rooftops of my city, which isn't worth photographing.
This time, everything was just right. Thank you for your kind words. |

Thank you for your comments, Sylvia.
Fortunately, the ships were still there; two days later, the harbor was empty. |

A really well-converted black and white photo, with no harsh contrasts, but rather a wonderfully soft focus that perfectly suits the scene.
I'm curious if you used a filter during the conversion.
A natural model, sitting and reading, with a slight smile on her lips.
Douglas, I think it's fantastic that you took the photo when you returned. The young woman was no longer posing, she was relaxed and focused on her book.
My thought was whether it would be possible to bring the woman even more into focus. That's why I cropped the image slightly on the left and top. But that's just an idea.

Linda, that's exactly how I know Holland during tulip season. Well done!
Colorful tulip beds, a small canal reflecting the trees, and a touch of spring in April.
Your composition is characterized by diagonal and almost vertical lines that create a sense of depth. In the background, the farm and the row of trees, and above, the sky.
Overall, your picture is both vibrant and harmonious.

Sylvia, your picture caught my eye.
Reduced colors, minimal objects, and differently textured shadows.
Of course, I immediately googled the terms, and I think part of the description definitely fits your photo.
It's the stillness and tranquility that your image exudes, the sheer empty space, devoid of people.
I really like both of those aspects.
I hope you'll show us more pictures on this theme.

Randy, that's a very beautiful, atmospheric picture.
I really like the path winding along the stream and into the light.
Unfortunately, I can't help you with Darktable.
In my opinion, your picture doesn't need much improvement.
I increased the brightness a bit in Photoshop and worked with the yellow and green color channels. That makes your picture a little brighter. |

First of all, thank you so much for sharing the story behind the picture.
How wonderful that you were able to visit this place.
I, too, would have been immediately captivated by its atmosphere.
I really like your black and white editing.
The absence of color enhances the sense of calm.
My suggestion would be to not crop the image too tightly; the sewing machine on the right would add another point to the picture, creating a triangle to guide the viewer's eye.
The light filtering softly through the curtains onto the bed was my first thought.
I imagine a light summer breeze, the curtains gently moving, and a carefree, almost joyful mood filling the room.
I edited the picture with this image in mind. Perhaps you'll like it as well. |

Jim, you've captured a truly atmospheric image.
I feel transported to the scene, standing at the edge of the lake, watching the mist rise. At the same time, I'm enjoying the morning sun, which creates this special light.
The black branch in the water bothers me a little. Is it possible to lighten it slightly and add some texture? Because of its reflection in the water and the different crop, the branch takes up
more space in the picture. |
