Randy,Thank you for your kind words. I'm looking forward to seeing if the jury likes my image. But it's not predictable, because jurors see a lot of images. It remains to be seen whether it still has a chance. |

Linda, Thank you very much for your comment. I like this sentence: "....someone ready to dive into a fun-filled journey." That hits the nail on the head. |

That was a real challenge, which I accepted. First of all, it was good that you didn't toss the image.
What did I do? First I tried to straighten the lantern a bit. Then I thought about cropping the image into a square. Next, I had to remove some things on the wall that were too distracting. After that, I tried out various filters and found this "midnight" one to be the best. The effect is certainly different now.
The image on the right is empty, but I had
no idea yet. I also like Yvonne's processing. |

Thanks for the interesting story behind the image, Yvonne. Not just a story, but history. I like the warm colors, the light on the building and the composition. The subject is in the foreground, framed from all sides. There is so much to discover on the front of the house wall. I ask myself how it could have worked and so an old building stimulates my imagination.
I wouldn't remove the power line, for me it symbolizes a connection.
I also like the photo of the side of the building.
In contrast to the first one, the person on the right brings it to life. It's definitely a viable perspective.

An impressive tree that you have staged well. I like the contrast of the blue, dark sky, which makes me think of a thunderstorm. Plus the bright green of spring in the foreground.
I have increased the contrast a little, darkened the lights and cropped the image a little at the top and bottom. But that's just an idea. |

Young love and children are always great subjects for photographers.
In your photo I recognize the joy of posing, but at the same time the love in the eyes, the trust in the partner. Both are also connected by their black and white clothing.
I like your image. You have succeeded in capturing a special moment. |

Yvonne, Thank you very much for your kind words.
I'm glad you smiled too. It was a lot of work lying on the balcony floor, keeping an eye on the image and waiting for the right light. But all in all it was a lot of fun.
I'm curious to see if it can score points in the competition. |

This task really was a great challenge.
In any case, you have succeeded in photographing an interesting foreground and background. I think it's good that both are separated by the water.
Overall, the image could be a little stronger by increasing the contrast.
I think a conversion to black and white would also be an idea, as there are many levels of brightness. |

A great portrait of a sunflower. The color yellow shines so wonderfully against the blurred green to dark green background. The crop is well chosen, there is enough space on the left side. You get the feeling that the sunflower is stretching towards the sun.
I also like the watercolor look. The artistic aspect is more in the foreground here.
I had bird feeders with sunflower seeds hanging in my balcony bushes over the winter and in the spring huge sunflowers grew in the balcony box. However, I didn't manage to get a good shot of them. |

Douglas, I put a smile on your face too. That makes me happy . I feel the same way when I look at the image.
My girlfriend is standing in front of a gray garden box. At first I tried the gray background, but I didn't like it at all. Then I got my black photo tablecloth and now I had the right background. By the way, you can buy the green grass background in decoration stores here at Easter. |

Jim, Glad I could make you smile!
Unfortunately summer is over here, but the image now reminds me of warm summer days and vacations.
Thanks for the tip about the lighting. I was struggling with the shadows from my bushes on the balcony, the light wasn't always coming in as it should. Actually, it works well here. |

Sylvia, Thank you very much for your comment. We also have McDonald's here, but I hadn't heard of Ronald McDonald. Now I know more. I named the image after Charly Chaplin because of the foot position.
I'm glad you like it. |
