Jim, I always enjoy your detailed image descriptions. You don't just describe, you see the essence. Douglas and you are right, there should be more to be seen at least in middle photo. It should depict life in its fullness and that requires more than just one visible blossom.
Thank you for your thoughts.
Have fun looking for and finding flowers for your triptych. |

Douglas, Your comment and Jim's got me thinking. The photo in the middle should have more DOF, definitely. It should depict life in its fullness and that requires more than just one visible blossom. Thank you for your thoughts. |

Linda, Looking at the original 2 makes me weak in the knees. Like Jim, I'm afraid of heights. Looking up is ok, but looking down is not possible without fear. That's why I admire your great courage.
You have chosen a really fitting title for your image. The large detail shows the heart and you can almost see the heartbeat. The dark inside almost wants to jump out. That is fascinating.

Sylvia, I am amazed by your creativity and the amount of work you put in. I just saw a YouTube video by Jennifer Earle doing "In The Box Photography" and I admire your work even more.
There is so much to discover in your picture, it's just fun to look at it. I can imagine that it was difficult bringing the people in the right position, but you did a good job.
I like the vertical on the right best. Some of the women are watching while the one in the middle pours water into the glass of the one below. The situation is effective in itself and made me smile.
Unfortunately, I can't give you any tips on either editing or shooting. I have not made a collage like yours yet. I will definitely give it a try.
Thank you for sharing the result of your creativity with us.

The three green orbs - each one exceptional in its own way. The viewer should take time to explore the beauty of each one. The longer I look at your image, the more the fairy tale of the Frog King comes to mind which is my favorite one. I wouldn't have thought that at first, I only saw orbs on the table.
Actually I would have given the glass balls even more space, without overlapping. When I take still life photos, I like to use a mirror for the ground or background. This doubles the beauty of the items.
Thanks for the imaginative image.

Yvonne, staircases are always good motifs. Light and dark alternate, shapes support the effect of depth. You have succeeded in capturing shapes, surfaces and structures very well. The view is either over the diagonal, as Jim mentioned, or over the beginning of the spiral at the top left. Good choice of perspective.
I like your transformation in B&W, but honestly, I also like the color version. To bring more power into the great picture I increased the hue and saturation. Yvonne, I hope it's ok for you. Your picture just inspired me to do it.

Jim, First of all I love the wonderful morning mood you captured! The combination of sharpness and blur is very well done and enhances the atmosphere. Definitely the light intensifies the color of the iris, it is the focal point, even it is not in the center.
You asked for suggestions on how to crop the photo. I tried a square, but it looks boring, too normal.
Maybe that`s worth considering. I chose the 20x30 format and cut off a bit on the right and bottom.
This results in an immediately recognizable triangle, starting with the flower on the right, continuing with the Blue Flag Iris and ending with the closed flower on the left. The triangle composition with the tip pointing upwards brings calm into the picture. You have certainly already seen this when photographing the iris.
A successful, well-composed image.
