Yvonne, I used Photoshop.
The way is images-adjustments-shadows/highlights.
I hope this is helpful. |

Yvonne, thanks a lot for your comment. You are right, I will remove the white light and try to crop the foreground a little. |

Linda, you are right. The bright spot is distracting.
But.....
The tiny bright spot in the top right corner is a church.I have not been there but I was told that many people make the difficult journey to pray there.

Linda, Your architectural photos are always interesting.
Both images have their strengths and the story is different each time. The original is cheerful and the focus is on the house. The black and white image looks gloomy, the focus is on the glass roof. I feel trapped when I look at it. My gaze bounces off the roof. Thank you for sharing your images. |

Cindy, I like the perspective and the lines. I think it was a good idea to convert your image to black and white.
"Also in a recent B&W competition, the judge remarked that showing the whole first pillar was distracting to him, so I tried cutting in half."
The opinions of the judges can be very different. The first pillar doesn't distract me. In my eyes there is so much more to see and discover.
I might have reduced the green and yellow tones in the black and white conversion. Then the pillars would be even more in focus.

Yvonne, I am always amazed by your street photos. In my town I wouldn't find such motifs.
I like the way you cropped it. The door and the view inside is even more in focus.
What I tried to do was to lighten the shadows. I hope that's ok for you.

Sylvia, you have succeeded in capturing this calm morning mood very well.
I like the way you have edited it. The beach with the tracks in the foreground are visible,
the water has a wonderful color and the morning twilight can be felt.
I would have kept the original format to show the width. But that's just my opinion.
Thank you for sharing your image. |

I love daffodils because they are heralds of spring.
Douglas, you have succeeded in capturing the colors of spring through this wonderful blossom. And the background is also spring, I can see more daffodils in blur. This gives your picture depth. A little tip: If you crop your image just a little bit, the daffodil will come more into focus and you get a rising diagonal line that draws the eye. Thank you for sharing! |
