Hi Yvonne
It's both-the editing and the camera.
The Leica M Monochrom
The Leica M Monochrom is purely developed to take monochrome images and occupies a special place within the Leica System. The image sensor is designed exclusively for grayscale recordings and offers exceptional fine-detail rendition.
The fact that no color filter arrays are required for color images means that there are fewer glass and filter layers to impede the transmission of light or cause deflections.
The sensor is just comparable to a black and white film.
This is especially advantageous in a traditional rangefinder camera, and results in decreased, finer-grained image noise. In addition, the sensor's enormous sensitivity range of ISO 160 to ISO 100,000 enables recordings with an extremely broad dynamic range - yielding images whose areas of shadow and illumination are clearly defined, particularly when shooting in uneven, high-contrast light.

Sylvia, thanks for your advice. You are right, the horizon line is a little bit crooked. |

A very successful landscape photo, Jim. I like the natural colors and especially the red of the lighthouse top. The reflections on the surface of the water are as detailed as the lighthouse itself. Great!
The image is well composed. It reminds me of my vacations in the USA visiting the coasts.
I darkened the sky a little bit, hoping that this is ok for you.

That's a real challenge to photograph bottles, Sylvia. You always have to struggle with reflections and the right lighting. You have managed both well. Your lighting makes the color shine. Great!
The bottles different in size and shape, are well composed.
You asked for suggestions: In photoshop I made the background darker. Colors and bottles stand out more clearly.

An interesting contrast you have captured in the image, Linda. An old monochrome house on the left in contrast to the vivid colors on the right. The murals immediately have caught my eye. I took my time to discover this work of art.

A lurker, I didn't know the word and had to look it up. Now I understand the title. Thank you for that, Douglas. Looking up is also worthwhile for photographers. A motif that makes me smile.
I imagine him with binoculars in his hands and then I think about what he might see.
I would crop the image on the left. The image works even without the windows. But that's my opinion.

This image really impresses me with its colors and the contrast in architecture, Yvonne.
The ornate, richly detailed ornaments become visible in fall. The golden dragons shine wonderful; they immediately catch my eye. The Royal House, as a total work of art, stands on one hand squeezed between plain buildings, but on the other hand it breaks out again through the brightness.
The perspective from the bottom up fits well. Maybe I would have tried to get the gate in its entirely on the photo.
In my opinion you succeeded in depicting the uniqueness of the building.
