Ed, thanks for the comment - as I see it the trick with low key (or indeed hi key) images, is not to loose the edges of the subject.
I have brightened the subject selectively a wee bit. I think if I push it further, it will stop looking natural.
My thoughts.
I take your point, maybe the answer is to create a light path coming in from the top left, which would justify brightening the eagle more. Let me try.
Regards
Som

The image conveys a good story, and the sepia goes well, with the faded look evoking a feeling of times past. Scanned from film I presume? |

Old vehicles and structures usually look better in mono, as does this one. Did you do any detail shots?

The Square crop works well, and mono allows separation of her from the sticks, in the colour she is almost merging into the background, mainly because her top is a similar colour and darkness to the sticks. |

Nice Shot Diana, as it stands I think I would have left the natural colours, To me mono conversion is not adding anything here. If the Lynx was waiting, and if opportunity permitted, I would have moved arround to see if I could get a shot without the trees in the background. Snow and animals make for lovely high key images, when the background is clean. Posting an example to convey what I mean. |
