32 Aug 23 Comment Jennifer, thanks, 400mm lens with built in 1.4TC engaged, so at a safe distance! Aug 29th
32 Aug 23 Comment Hi Tom, The original 2 is another image, which posted here to give context, as most people will not know what this is all about. It is a very interesting if not well oragnised affair. I have loads of images of the action and was actually thinking if I could put together a panel for BPSA from them. I agree Original 2 is a much better image, but that works well in colour so I didn't think of converting it to Mono. Aug 20th
32 Aug 23 Comment Thanks Diana and Wes, I am travelling now, like the suggestions, will do it once I get home. On the way back from Mara, got some good images of the migration. So a lot of stuff to process! Aug 19th
32 Aug 23 Comment Good crop Stephen, Thanks Aug 7th
32 Aug 23 Comment As it stands, there is dead space to the right and lower parts. I would crop a bit, but not too much as your story is of abandoned eggs, not just eggs. The blurring is fine, and I take that as a good thing, as the eggs are in focus. Maybe trying a shot at f5.6 would give a different effect, but I am a great fan of shallow depth of field, so for me this works.

Looks like you were shooting from a higher location looking down. If the nest is still there, I would suggest trying to shoot from a more 'flat' angle, to get the eggs peeping out of the nest material. Like one tries to shoot animals from eye level, whenever possible, and yes I would stick to the f2.8, or even shallower depth of field if I had a f/2 lens handy.

But all this is just my way of looking at things which tends to be a bit boring sometimes!

32 Aug 23 Reply Well, I didn't realise the bird was there, was shooting 30 fps to try and catch the action. When reviewing I caught this frame with the bird, must have come in for a fleeting second. Goes to proove that sometimes "spray and pray" will get you a shot which thoughtful shooting would have missed. Aug 6th
32 Aug 23 Comment Wes, sorry, I prefer the color on this one, and if you had a frame with her looking towards you, it would be the icing on the cake! Aug 6th
