73 Aug 25 Comment Peter, you were at the right spot at the right time and had camera ready. It's a great capture and the sun and its reflection are gorgeous. The bridge is a connector to the two land areas and pulls it all together. Great image. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Comment Ian, I am impressed with the effort to get all 7 images and then to get them stiched properly is a work of art. I do like your version of the image with the ocean liner as it seems to overpower the wonderful Opera House. The city is a good anchor for the image and I appreciate how you've done your post work for all the different sections of the image; highway, city, opera house, water, and ocean liner. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Comment Raymond, I like the in focus grass on the left side and it leads my eye to what looks almost like a path toward the sea. The mounds add interest and sense of a path, while the sunlight brings it all to a conclusion at the water with the mountain then visible. The mountain was the last thing I saw as my eye followed through the image. I like the post work and the drama you've added with the sky and sunlight. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Comment Dave, I like the image and the story that it conveys. Either choice may be bad! The scenery isn't overpowering or beautiful in any way other than providing a solitary backdrop to the story. I think it's a great capture and story. I think the amount of sky and the darkening you've provided add an strong element of harshness to the scene. Well done. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Comment Butch, a very nice sunrise capture with the cranes in flight. When I first saw the image before reading your description, I thought it might be Bosque Del Apache in New Mexico. We've been there a couple of times and even in January-February, it's warmer than Nebraska in February. Your image brings back some pleasant memories of the morning "blast-off". I like the orange sky and the full sunrise. It's a great image. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Comment Hi Sherry, I think you've captured an image that brings back some very positive memories for you. I agree with Butch that the sky could be cropped a bit. I'm getting better myself with keeping the sky minimized if it's not interesting. Feedback I've received has helped me recognize that those changes improve an image. Last year, we were in Lucerne for a couple of days, but it was hazy and cloudy each day, so no great shots of the Alps. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Sherry, I do plan to use it for some upcoming competitions. I appreciate your comments on the image. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Ian, it was one of those moments when you see something and in this case, hit the brakes and get the camera our. I thought it told a good story and by being somewhat patient, I was able to get the shot in the harbor without evidence of land or port which gives it a serene look. Aug 13th
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks for your comments Butch. I had planned a somewhat minimalist image based on the smokey sky colors. I do like what you've done in your VF and will continue to try additional post processing work to see what I settle on. I appreciate the work you put into the critique. Aug 13th
