Karen - I think you got the pose of this beauty just right with the diagonal petals, and the moisture on the petals is perfect. I also appreciate the starkness of the white in contrast to that really nice green. For me, I might like to see just a spot in the middle of the flower in perfect focus. I hope you take many more when they bloom this year. I never get to see gardenias any more. |

Hi James - thanks for the comment. We had so many this year that most every member of our camra club probably has this shot. It was a great opportunity for us. |

Charissa - beautiful floral portrait. Your colors are what makes this one special. Pure greens and pure pink - quite striking. Normally I would prefer not to have a solid light background, but here it works because the texture is so perfect. Nice job. |

James - I agree with Lori that the tip of the leaf should have been included. But in every other respect - I find this to be a perfect image. The exposure, reflections, details, color, background texture - all are perfect and compliment the subject. I wish I had taken this one. |

Excellent capture, but also excellent manipulation. That bee and flower are tack-sharp. And that is important with insects. You can see the hairs on his abdomen!! It might be worth trying out a darker background, or darkening up this one so the lightness is not a distraction and the shiny bee might be even more visable. |

Ruth - very nice image,. I wish the mallard had turned a tiny bit in your direction to get more color on the face and especially the bill. For me, I would prefer to see a reed or two to give the duck context. I know that they live in water, but to me it feels like he is overshadowed by all the water. Sorry... |

Robert - what a lovely and delicate image. I think the gentle green cast is what makes this so refressing. In this case, the position of the lower flower a little to the left is perfect to highlight the differnces between the two. And it makes the small flower more of the 'subject' also, which I think is reinforced by the fact that the top flower is not shown in its entiety. Very nice image with good detail. -Melissa |

Nadia - this is magnificent. Not only great photography, but the FEELING of this image is very strong. There is a feeling of lonliness, rejection, being stranded, hopefulness, and yearning for home. WOW. I love this. I would not make the house larger, because the way is it there is a message of "A long way to go". The brightness of her colors is also a wonderful contrast to the muted scene - like she does represent hope of getting home. Great idea!! |

Tom - For me, I would do NO major adjustments here. This really portrays the man's position in the universe. The only tiny thing I might do is enlarge the "crown" aura around his head to make it more obvious. I especially like the way you kept and added all the crisp lighting details and colors. And the way the arrow is placed even accentuates the subject. I would clean up the pavement in the arrow to get rid of the broken blacktop. |

Brad - this is exceptional - what an idea. I will remember this one. Was it good fortune that made the cLoud just fit into the ewer? Or was this a manipulation? Either way - what a creative image. And the colors are perfect. Love it! |

Hi Ed - This is a really scary image. I have a hard time visualizing men actually venturing into this shaft. But rough and tumble jobs require rough and tumble men - I know - I worked Offshore for 10 years.
As a record shot - this is excellent. I can see how the monochrome would be the best way to capture all the texture, but also the condition of the support post and lintels. Photoshopping a dog looking out of the tunnel would really work for a creative shot. -Melissa |
