16 Nov 17 Reply So many have asked about the camera settings I used so I went back to look up the details. It was taken late afternoon with Nikon 80-400 with maximum zoom at f4.5, ISO 1000, auto focus, auto white balance in aperture priority, on a tripod. I did not manipulate the eyes. These bears are wild and free to roam. As I was leaving my cabin one came as close as 10 feet but you better believe I was not trying to take a photo. However, a member of our tour took a shot of our guide hiding behind a tree 3 feet from a female bear. We were safe because the bears had all the salmon they could eat. For this shot I was on a elevated platform at lease 100 years away. Thank you all for all your comments and suggestions. Kathleen Nov 27th
16 Nov 17 Comment Great shot. I like the composition...the leading lines of the pier drawing us to those beautiful fall colors of the trees. By selecting the trees I can see that you made a change to the sky...the clouds are from an overcast day while the light on the trees and pier show that the photo was taken on a sunny day. I think if you had shown the original photo we would see that you have over processed a beautiful shot. As shown I would crop down until we no longer see the sky then all the changes you made would be undetected and you would have the beautiful image you wanted with the "pop" of colors in the trees. 16 Nov 17 Comment Great PJ shot. This shows how people see things differently.
I like that the woman is looking at you. I don't think she looks unhappy...she looks surprised to see someone sharing what she thought was a romantic moment alone with her new husband. The composition is fantastic. Great shot.

16 Nov 17 Reply Hi Mark: Nice to know that a friend is checking out our group. I did not add a catch light because I want to use the image in Nature competition. Happy Holidays Nov 23rd
16 Nov 17 Comment Wow...great improvement. The original looks like something I may have seen as a "throw away." I call those light streaks "God rays" which draw my interest down into the canyon. I love the blue because it adds interest to the image and the adjustments on the rocks add detail and impact. Beautiful image. Walter...you and your family have my condolences on the passing of your brother-in-law. Nov 23rd
16 Nov 17 Comment Very interesting subject and I'm glad you explained what he was doing. Converting to monochrome was an excellent idea because the focus is on the man and his unusual costume. The image is sharp and the detail in his clothing is very good, however, the wooden background could have been adjusted a little more but his eyes sell the shot. Nov 23rd
16 Nov 17 Comment Nice shot of downtown. I like the composition but I would like to have a little more sky added in photoshop because the top of the building in the right corner is off the page. At the same time you could put in a nicer sky. The fountain and people keep your eye focused on the important aspects of the shot. Love the shot. Nov 23rd
