It's a beautiful image. I also like the vertical suggestion best. |

Joan... thanks for the original. I can now see that I must add Lightroom to my post processing. I think showing more of the woman's hand would show additional background clutter. I think your crop is right on. |

Hi Bogdan: I like this shot. The subject is the boat and the lighting on it so I would crop out the right side at the point where the blue lighting ends so we do not see the the vertical light on the right and the wood panels because they do not add interest to the image. Your post processing is very good. This shot needs a white boarder to contain the image. When we print an image we do not need a boarder because the paper indicates where the image ends. With a digital image we need a boarder to contain it so the image does not blend into the background it is being projected onto. |

Hi Walter: What changes did you make in this shot. I see you cropped out the two birds in the foreground. Good idea. It looks like you may have made some adjustment on the lighting, I'm not sure... the lighting on the bird's head is a little blown out but it's still a great shot of a bird coming in for a landing. You captured the eyes and there is a lot of detail in the feathers. Good action shot. |

Hi Joan. Welcome to our group. WOW...this image is packed with color and every inch of the details are sharp. I wish you would have shown the before shot because you mentioned the
"detail extractor" and I am not familiar with that tool. I would like to see how it improves the detail. Is there any significant change in lighting that also helped improve the shot? I think cropping out the woman was a very good idea. Great image. |

The difference between the before and after is as different as night and day...ha ha ha. Really...I was also on the night photo outing and I walked by this shot because I did not see the potential. I am impressed with the golden tonal range in the bricks throughout the frame. Removing the sign and spotlight was a good idea. My suggestion would be to darken the bricks on the lower portion of the right side so that all detail is removed as it appears on the top portion of this side. Would you please explain why you do not use a bounding box/boarder to frame your images. I feel this photo is good argument for using a boarder. There is no definition of where your image begins and where it ends. It's up to the viewer to figure it out. Your post processing is great. |
