Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
37 Jul 24 Reply Delian: Thanks. Anne and I had a fun day that day. As you can see by my responses to the others in our group, I plan on doing something with the background. Wish me luck. Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Reply Bob: Looks like we are all on the same page as far as separating the subject from the background. I am going to play around with the image doing blurring and/or darkening to see what works best for me. I also appreciate the other suggestions you have included to improve the image. Yes, I will have fun dibbling and dabbing while I keep all of your suggestions in mind. Thanks Bob! Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Reply Howard: Thanks and I do agree, as noted in my response to Meredith that I need to separate the subject from the background. Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Reply Meredith: Thank you for your suggestion. I agree. Something needs to be done to the background so the subject stands out more. Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Napoleon: Given all the negative aspects you are dealing with in this photo, I am impressed by your final image. You managed to circumvent the urban light pollution on the MW quite nicely. An enormous amount of work goes into creating a MW photo especially when dealing with artificial light. Love how you lightened up the lower third (left side) of the image. In all, a great photo Napoleon! Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Howard: Whether you like "bird" photos or not, you cannot deny the beauty of this image. The before and after image certainly gives the viewer an appreciation of all the little (and big) nuances done to this photo. Love the bokeh background that certainly contributes to highlighting the birds. I would love to see a "highlight" in the eyes of the birds. Also, I am not sure the secondary branch adds anything to the image. Great capture! Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Bob: This image is extremely captivating for several reasons. First, just capturing an image of this magnitude is very difficult. The focus and clarity of the subject is certainly outstanding. Second, Thank you for giving us the background of all the "work" you did on this image to achieve the final outcome. Action shots are definitely not the easiest to secure. Kudos to you for sharing this image with us. Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Delian: Everything in this photo screams "creative". Love the balance of the various objects in the photo. I find the interaction of the smoke and the background especially engaging in how they compliment each other. I believe by eliminating the white horizontal part of the bowl, you would elevate the intrigue this photo projects to the viewer. Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Meredith: I agree with Bob's cropping suggestion and love what Howard did with the clarity and midtones. It always amazes me when a second set of eyes takes a great photo to a higher level of interest that just makes it "pop". Jul 23rd
37 Jul 24 Comment Peter: The focus of this photo are the tack sharp flowers in the foreground. Which are gorgeous. Having said that the second eye catching concept that contributes to the beauty of this image is the lighting. The blending of these two images and the individual lighting contribution of each makes for a spectacular photo for the viewer.
Love it.
