Hi Meredith, Thanks for the comment. You are correct. The flower is the star. The background needs some work. |

Hi Napoleon! Welcome to Group 37! This is a great image and I, for one, appreciate the detailed data you shared with the group. Given all the technical data you did to accomplish this image, I hope you tucked that information in your head for future reference. Lighting is so important when photographing the face of a person. However, it is my belief, that the eyes are the most important part of a portrait. Mistakes can be forgiven in aspects of a portrait. However, if you do not capture the eyes, you best move on. You, captured the eyes in this portrait. What is he thinking? Is he sad? And, the questions just keep coming. What a great portrait image! |

Hi Howard! What a gorgeous image! Although (I believe) no photo is ever perfect, this image certainly comes close. All of the lines tie in with the leading line(s) of the walkway. The more I look at this photo, the more I find my eye following the diagonal cables that go to the beautiful lines of the wings that blend with the lines of the building to the diagonal lines on the ground in the grass back up to the walkway. Wow is all I can say. You outdid yourself on this one!! |

Hi Bob! Even given the settings, this is not an easy shot to get considering you are under a timer. That being said, your timing on this shot was perfect. There is no movement in the model (and we know she was moving). The clarity and sharpness of everything in this photo is outstanding. Love the lightening that enhances all the nuances from muscles to creases of the skin around the elbow and thumb. Kudos to you Bob for such a great photo! |

Hi Delian: Welcome to group 37! I look forward to previewing your images. The metal bars and the debris are sharp and definitely in focus which is where the eye goes first. However, if you were trying to focus on the reflection of the sky at the bottom of the dry well, that is the part of the photo that needs to be the focal point of the eye. Play around with different combinations of your settings to accomplish your goal. As is, the photo is quite interesting even if I did totally miss what you were trying to accomplish. |

Hi Meredith, Welcome to Group 37. Looking forward to seeing your images. This month you chose "a simple still life", titled "Ready for the Reader". Love all the textures in the photo and the composition. The "soft, aged feel" is a goal, but remember it is a fine line of compromise for clarity and sharpness. Also, I find the white line that is in the eyeglasses on the right side a bit distracting. In all, a good image. |
