Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I have used exposure bracketing and agree, it would have improved the outcome. It was such a surprise to see the rainbow and of course, occurred while we were setting up for dinner. No one had their tripods up...so we were just handholding our cameras. |

Thanks Oleg! I did use quite a lot of masks in Lightroom to either lighten or darken areas as needed. I shoot in RAW which gives me more flexibility to make adjustments but I try not to go overboard.
I'm including the original file without edits to show the difference. |

Oleg - wow what an interesting image! Nice work to get a shot of this rare dust storm in St. Petersburg.
The sky colors are such a beautiful orange/gold color and I like how it casts a glow across the river as well as the buildings on the right.
What time of day was this shot? Early morning or sunset?

Richard - Thanks for sharing your original and final photo as well as some of your editing techniques. It sounds like a fabulous trip and I look forward to seeing other images from your travels.
You did an excellent job bringing up the foreground and blending all the various layers in the final composite. The sunrise colors are beautiful and I love seeing the balloon floating over the area. |
