Thank you so much for all of your feedback on my poem and photo. I took your comments to heart and revised the poem to include a sense of mystery that the darker tones convey in the photo. Here is the revised poem:
Amidst the river's flow, a choir of trees,
Singing their melodies with such ease.
Boughs that sway with the wind's gentle sound,
Wildlife finds solace, a haven they've found.
But there's more to this scene than meets the eye,
A sense of mystery that can't be denied.
The dark tones hint at secrets untold,
The river's depths hiding stories old.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this new version of the poem. Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback and helping me improve my work. |

Thank you for taking the time to read and appreciate my poem and image, and for sharing your thoughts on it.
I appreciate your suggestion to lighten the area and its reflection, and I can see how it could potentially bring a different mood and impact to the piece. However, my intention with the darker tones was to convey a sense of depth and mystery, and to showcase the intricate details of the trees and their reflection. I wanted to create a contrast between the stillness of the water and the movement of the leaves and branches, and to highlight the beauty of nature in its various forms.
Thank you for pointing out the tonal qualities of blacks, whites, and greys in black and white photography, and I agree that they play an important role in creating impactful images. I will keep your feedback in mind as I continue to explore different forms of artistic expression and techniques in my work.
Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and for sharing your perspective on my poem and image. |

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed and thoughtful comment on my recent photo and the accompanying poem. I appreciate your feedback on the artistic elements and your evaluation based on the principles you learned in your image evaluation class.
Regarding your request to see more original photos and post-processing, I am happy to share the original untouched file of the photo.
I'm glad that you found the reflection and texture of the trees on the water's surface engaging, and that the accompanying poem resonated with you. I wanted to convey a sense of calm and serenity with the dark tones, which is why I chose that particular processing for the image. My aim was to showcase the beauty of nature and how the trees, the river, and the wildlife all coexist harmoniously.
Thank you for your kind words and feedback. I will keep your comments in mind for future photos, and I look forward to continuing to share my original work with the group.

Charles, Thank you for taking the time to view my image and read the accompanying poem. I am grateful for your feedback and appreciate your kind words about the poem.
Regarding your comment about the image, I intentionally chose to create a somber and understated tone to reflect the peaceful, quiet presence of the trees along the river's shore. I aimed to capture the feeling of a tranquil and serene environment where wildlife can thrive and the trees act as protectors. While I understand your suggestion to lighten up the shadows and bring out more details in the reflection, I believe that doing so would change the mood and meaning of the image.
Thank you again for your constructive feedback from a different perspective, and I will certainly consider your suggestions in future work. |

Thank you for providing me the opportunity to view your photo of Mousuni Island in West Bengal, India, and I must say, the location is stunning. The geological history of the island and its unique characteristics, including the distributaries of Ganga and typical mangrove vegetation, are also fascinating to learn about.
I appreciate your artistic choice of including the five persons in the photo, which adds a sense of scale and perspective to the scene. However, I think it would be better if all the body lines of the people were clearly seen and not overlapping. This could further enhance the beauty of the image and allow the viewers to appreciate the individual details of each person.
It's also saddening to hear that this beautiful destination is endangered due to global warming and increasing frequency and intensity of cyclones and coastal flooding. Your photo brings attention to this important issue and reminds us of the need to take action to protect our environment. |

The Lady disappearing into the mist and the single pigeon seeking out its morning meal really give a sense of the serene mood of the morning. Your use of black and white photography is also effective in conveying the feel and ambience of the scene.
I agree with your artistic choice of using Nik Silver Effects pro 3 to create this stunning image. The extensive post-processing work you put into it really paid off, as the final result is an excellent representation of the mood and feel of that morning.
As a viewer, I am also curious about the connection between the lady and the pigeon in the photo. I can see how a tighter connection between the human and animal could tell a more compelling story, but I also appreciate that the image has a certain mystery and open-endedness to it.
Overall, your photo is a great inspiration, and I appreciate the work and dedication you put into creating it. Thank you for sharing your skills and techniques with us. |

You've captured a great contrast between light and dark. The low-hanging fog creates a stark contrast with the dark barren limbs and branches of the trees, and the leading line of the roadway adds a nice touch to the image.
However, I noticed some dark spots on the trucks and branches that can be a bit distracting. Removing these spots could further enhance the overall beauty of the image. I understand that post-processing is a matter of personal preference, and your decision to leave the spots is also a valid artistic choice. |

You have a great skill in post-processing that turns a nearly complete dark photo into a vivid and striking image. The elaborately carved golden walls and the confetti create a stunning background, and the clear lake reflecting the deep blue sky really adds to the beauty of the scene.
However, I noticed some noise in the sky of the image, which could be reduced for an even more stunning final result. I think reducing the noise would enhance the overall beauty of the photo. |

I was truly impressed by your skillful processing technique. The use of ON1 Effects and selection tools to enhance the contrast and details, along with replacing the sky, created a warm, sunset-like feel that really drew me in. Your use of Camera Raw filter and Topaz DeNoise tools to touch up sharpness and reduce noise was also very helpful to know.
I appreciate that you shared your camera data, which gives some insight into the technical details of the shot. It's always great to learn from other photographers and see how they approach their work.
As for the composition, I personally love how the light falls on the right side of the image, but I can see how darkening the left side might bring a more balanced feel to the photo. Ultimately, it comes down to personal taste, and I think you did an excellent job capturing the beauty of Zion National Park. |

Thank you for sharing your photo of the wine country in the Rhine River Valley. The way you captured elements of the old and new is truly captivating, and I appreciate the effort you put in to make this image perfect.
I completely agree with your vision of capturing the elements of the old and new in the image, and the result is fantastic. However, I can't help but feel that the photo would be even better if all the trees could be kept vertical, which could be easily done in post-processing. It would make the composition even stronger and help to bring the focus more on the other elements in the image.
Nonetheless, I still appreciate the overall quality of the photo and the way you were able to clear out the haze and bring out the rich colors in post-processing. It's a stunning shot, and I'm sure it will inspire many.
Thank you for sharing your work and allowing me to offer my feedback. |

Thank you so much for your kind words about my photo and poetry! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed both.
To answer your question, I shot the photo in color and then converted it to black and white in post-processing. I find that certain subjects, like the one in this photo, lend themselves well to black and white because it emphasizes the shapes and textures in the image.
I appreciate your feedback about the darkness of the photo. It was my intention to create a moody and atmospheric effect, but I understand that it may not be to everyone's taste. I'm always open to constructive criticism and suggestions, so thank you for sharing your thoughts.
Once again, thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to share your thoughts on my photo. It means a lot to me! |
