24 Dec 25 Comment Bev, this is a very nice image. The subject has a lot of appeal to me. I'd be tempted to crop up a little, which I did in my feedback image!

Nice subject!

48 Dec 25 Reply Tom, yes. That is helpful. I reedited the original to emphasize a third stone along the right of the frame.

Perhaps an improvement...!

48 Dec 25 Reply Richard, thank you for your comments and suggestion! I didn't consider emphasizing elements in three's, though that is sensible. Thank you. Dec 13th
48 Dec 25 Comment Bev,

I did a little something to lessen the impact of the yellow trash containers and the background. I selected the yellow bins and desaturated them a little. I created a layer and then used the elliptical selection tool on Elements to surround the subject. I selected invert selection to highlight everything around the subject and proceeded to darken that area and introduce a touch of blur. I then used the erasure tool to erase the layer from the subjects knees down towards the bottom to restore sharpness in that area of the frame.

I think this draws more attention to the subject. I do agree with Tom that this is a documentary photo, and the background condos are an important element.

Good shot!

48 Dec 25 Comment Richard,

Great story. both your description and the appearance of a luxury cruise ship at a commercial shipping port.

I can even see the path of the launch you were on leading to the liner.

I agree with Tom. You captured the scene perfectly.

48 Dec 25 Comment Stewart,

Good story. I like the depth of field in this image. The leading edge of the stump is soft and the background is great. Makes it easy to focus attention on the statue. Nice image. I like it!

48 Dec 25 Comment Tom,

I like this image very much. Everything, including the vendor, looks to be suspended in air. The colors are vibrant and the items displayed are both colorful and interesting. The vendor was quite happy to be photographed as her expression shows.

You have a good eye.

48 Dec 25 Comment Bridget,

I like your work. You have a creative eye that produces very interesting images. The diagonal orientation of the bee in the frame is very good and adds interest. The more I look at the image the more I like it.

It's easy to see why you won recognition with this image!
