24 Aug 25 Reply Bev, thank you. I've not been to a conference since New Mexico. Yes, sharing time at a photo conference would be excellent. I've not had the urge to travel in a while.... Aug 4th
24 Aug 25 Reply Charissa, thank you. Attached is the jpg version of the original capture unedited. Aug 3rd
24 Aug 25 Comment John,

Very nice. The background is nicely out of focus and darker than the flower. I do like how the stem stands out from th background, but is still soft focused.

Very good!

24 Aug 25 Comment Charissa, cool!! This is a nice scene. Very nice color and a lot of detail. The figure in the background is positioned nicely in the frame. Sharp detail too!

Your iPhone is good!

24 Aug 25 Comment Bev, yes! The backlit sunflower is great. In a general sense, I do like backlit floral images. The sun from behind tends to make flower petals flame with brightness.

The color is great and the pollinator adds to the image nicely!

48 Aug 25 Reply Richard,

Thank you for the feedback. Yes, doing a better job isolating the piling would help the image.

I went ahead and darkened the background with the burn tool and lightened the piling a little.

48 Aug 25 Comment Tom, I'd title this "Mayhem in Paradise".

This is a busy scene, but I can hear Jimmy Buffet. I can hear laughter and lively conversation.

I'm with Bev, though, you'd have to be a "social sophisticate" to make a connection between the Schooner Warf Bar and this image. For me, I'm afraid, the Penobscot Pour House is as sophisticated as I get....

48 Aug 25 Comment Stewart, yes! A day at the beach!

This does convey a relaxed vibe. Don't see anyone on their cell phone.... Though, what is that youngster in the lower left looking at in his hand???

Pleasing image for this time of year.

48 Aug 25 Comment Jamie, I like the composition a lot. There is a great story within the frame. Your original was excellent. I would have just submitted that!

Good eye!

48 Aug 25 Comment Richard, verrrrrry interesting image. I really like the detail and color with the sail boats. You did nice work with the bracketing.

I agree with Bev about the sky for sure and maybe some color in the water. The lite gray sky does make me "want" for something.

I do like the image. Good work!

48 Aug 25 Comment Bev, I like it. I think what you did with the sky (background) was very good. You did something to add color and punch to the final image, and it worked for me.

Nice shot, and I don't blame you for wanting company. I live in a very rural area, but don't feel especially immune from misguided minds here.

Interesting image and nice work.

48 Aug 25 Comment Bridget, this is very good. I am impressed with your creativity to spy the deceased bug and come up with a plan to incorporate the find in an image.

There's a fair amount of space along the top and right that could be cropped out. I trimmed it down a little which did change the composition some.

48 Aug 25 Reply Bev, thank you for the comments. It did remind me that I didn't say why I took the image in the first place. That area was a thick mat of seaweed that made for a beard-like coating over the rocks. The piling remnant stuck out like a finger out of the mat like it had "busted through".

Regardless, the capture and processing didn't convey an appealing message. That's good to be reminded of when making an image.

So, I do appreciate your comment!
