Charissa, thank you for your review. Yes, I used carnations. The lightbox I uses is an old one. I removed the fluorescent bulbs that came with the box and installed a string of LED lights I bought at a discount/surplus store. The LED lights were easy enough to install. I just made sure the little antenna that receives signals from the control FOB extended outside the box!
Sorry for my late reply to your review.

John,
Very colorful image. I agree with Charissa, the diagonals created by the yellow blossoms with the red fringed blossoms on the borders add interest. I looks like you may have added a vignette or at least the lighting available to you created that effect.
Pleasing image.

Charissa,
Outstanding! I like this composition very much. I like the high - key approach. This is a pleasing image and I'm glad you took the time to make the arrangement.
I also like your description.
Very good work and thank you for sharing. Sorry for my tardy review, by-the-way.

Jamie,
What a colorful and interesting image. The bee is very sharp. I agree with Tom in that the flowers compete for attention> I did something a little different. I did a bit of a vignette around the bee.
Good work!! |

Tom,
Woops! Your comment reminded me about a neglected detail: the image I used for my background!! I placed the umbrella image on top of the background and then used the erasure tool with the opacity set quite low and removed some of the data from the umbrella image surrounding the central umbrella to expose a hint of the background color. I did not erase any data from the central umbrella.
Thank you for the question - prompting this important detail.

Tom, very good. They have rafting trips on the Penobscot and Kennebec rivers. There was a time when I was a 20-something, before these guided excursions became popular, that a couple buddies of mine hatched an idea about tying six truck tire innertubes together and shooting the rapids on the contraption. Seemed safe. I can't tell you how my wife reacted to the idea. At least she didn't run out and get a life insurance policy on me..... I don't think she did.... Never followed through. Probably a good thing! |

Tom, very good. The "guide" looks to be having a good time awaiting the big splash the folks at the front of the raft are getting, or are about to get. Nice exposure.
I think the boat is a little too centered in the frame. Otherwise, this is a very interesting shot!! Good work. |

Stewart, this is a really outstanding human interest image. What fun! I'm imagining the fellow with the bubble maker is the Dad and the children are enjoying the moment. I like the expression on the fellows face. Nice background!
Good work! |

Richard, first of all this is an impactful image. The water silky water and lush green background create a very calming scene. I do think there may be a use for a third element in the scene. The water is one, the foliage is two... My minds eye wants a fly fisherman in the scene or some critter on the opposite bank.
Something I would do is crop up some. I think there is a little too much water in the bottom of the frame. |

Bev, lovely image. What a great looking place. We just don't have anu equivalents here and this shot has such "old world" charm. I live in a place where we all want space and the idea of living in such compact surroundings is pretty "foreign".
Good story in this shot!! |
