Frank, excellent composition. Love the color! I brough the image into Elements and toned down the highlights just a little. I think more detail came out as a result....

Charissa, excellent idea and execution. I like Pinaki's comments about drawings done prior to color photography. Outstanding! I'd never think to do this sort of thing. Well done! |

Bev, this is a pretty impressive effort. You are good at substituting backgrounds. I feel you have an impressive result with this image. Though I like what you've produced, Frank's cropping looks pretty good two. A little hard to decide which is better! |

Pinaki: I like the composition and the subject. I agree that the background is pretty bright and detracts from the flower. Bev's and Frank's changes do improve the image. Good shot though. An Iris is an excellent subject!!! |

Pinaki - Thank you. The3 tripod collar really helped. I don't have any other lenses that would allow for this kind of effort.
I read a couple articled in the PSA journal about smartphone photography. I don't imagine this could be done well with a smart phone.... So, there may be some things that a camera/lens combo has real advantages over phones. |

Jamie, powerful image. The sky looks magnificent. Lots of detail. I do like the way the shore and cloud pattern take my eye over to the right edge of the frame. Very nice capture. |

Paul, The flower to the left of the frame doesn't help the hummingbird. The hummingbird is great and I agree with Stewart's crop!! |
