Lloyd,
I've wanted to try this stuff, but haven't worked up the initiative as of yet. We have a camera club member who does this sort of thing and gets very interesting captures.
Yours is excellent. I did spend some time scanning the frame and taking in the various elements. By the way, is the silhouette of the male figure you? |

Tom,
Outstanding. I'd not want to be confronted by that fellow. I agree with the others. The cigar and smoke plume adds a lot of impact. Great detail in the smoke and in the image overall.
Good job!! |

Mary,
What a great story. Having the young woman in the frame watching the action really adds interest. Timing is everything and you were there at the right time.
I do like Bev's vibrance adjustment.
Very good!! |

Jamie,
Excellent shot. The color is great as is the outcome of your post processing. Boy, had you been able to catch a shot with the beast looking at your camera.......
The cat is both beautiful and menacing! |

Bev,
I like the image. The horse looks good. I like the way the rider is looking off to her left. Blurring the background did take care of the distractions, especially the light pole that is right behind the flag. Very good. The story appeal to me. My minds ear can hear the PA announcer now: "Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, please stand an honor America....." |

Mary,
Thank you. I should do some sharpening experimentation. I've not done any side-by-side examinations of High Pass filter sharpening vs Unsharp mask. Easy enough to do, so perhaps I should....
I appreciate your feedback!

Lloyd,
I didn't change aperture during this effort. Now that you mention it, it seems almost silly not to try manipulating DOF for still life subjects. One thing that also comes to mind is to do my nest still life effort tethered to my computer. My eyes ain't what they used to be and the monitor on my PC is meaningfully larger than the LCD on my camera bodies... aren't they all!
Thank you!

Bev,
I agree that somehow the focus doesn't seem right. I do think the cut glass did affect the lighting on the flower in a way I didn't anticipate. I don't tend to spend much time examining my captures on the camera display and as a consequence miss opportunity to correct shorcomings...
Thank you,
