Lloyd, this is an excellent image. I like to composition. The whites are very clean and there's very good detail in the petals. The background is very good.
You mentioned adding a "stain" to the top of the flower. I've not heard of that before. As Mary mentioned, that's likely the stain. Can you explain???

I've been out scouting some candidates from the yard. Darned if the black flies have hatched out! Bit of a miserable enterprise to compose an image whilst a half-dozen biting pests are trying to feast on me!!!
I am enjoying this group. One image per month works well! |

Tom, I wished I were there. I'll bet the "boom" from the canon was impressive. The flame, smoke and posture of the reenactor shows a lot of action. The lighting on the scene is great and evereything is sharp. Very, very nice shot! |

Mary, the sharpness of the subject is excellent. I like the composition a lot. It appears the subject turned to look back at you. I like the background. The rainy weather worked to your advantage. Terrific shot!! |

Paul, this is a terrific treatment of the flower. I agree with Tom's comment about the abstract quality of the image. I do find the image very appealing. I expect it would make a fine print! |
