48 Mar 23 Reply Bev - Thank you. For me the photography pleasure is at capture. I get good enjoyment in capturing what's before my eye as it is. I have substituted a background to replace what was present at capture for some images. So, I'm no purist. For this image I was struck by the background possibilities of the flower that was present.
What I should do is effort the suggestions made earlier and make that flower less prominent. I do like the idea of having a library of backgrounds. That would change my perspective on potential candidates for future capture, or I suppose a review of my existing library.......... Hummmmmm!!!

48 Mar 23 Reply Jamie - I've used Photoshop Elements for years and haven't even tried the masking business. I don't imagine it's all that hard. I just need to make time to do some masking efforts!

Thank you for the comments and the suggestion!!

48 Mar 23 Reply Paul - thank you. I agree, the background is too bright and competes with the subject. Really ought to of thought about that in my original processing effort. Mar 5th
48 Mar 23 Reply Lloyd - thank you for the commentary. I get way more enjoyment on the image capture end that the post processing side. So, my software skills will continue to be slow in development..... Mar 5th
48 Mar 23 Comment Jamie,

Very dramatic image. The sand and surf have a lot of appeal. I like Mary's adjustments. This is a very pleasing scene. I can imagine sitting on a beach chair watching the wave roll in!!!

48 Mar 23 Comment Wow! This is outstanding. I agree with the others about the presentation. This image would be an "eye-catcher" on any wall. Excellent work. Mar 2nd
48 Mar 23 Comment Bev- I like the composition. When you say you had it converted to digital - does that mean the film processing lab provided you with a CD along with prints? Is the file in jpg format? Just curious.

I'd offer suggestions on software adjustments if I more skilled with PS or other software. Mary's suggestion about noise reduction seems good. I'd be tempted to reduce the exposure slightly because of the highlight at the bottom of the frame or just crop up and down a little to eliminate it.

A more tedious thought would be if you could find the original film capture you may be able have it re-digitized or do so yourself on a scanner. Doing so may give you some adjustment options on the digitization end that will prove helpful with subsequent processing in Lightroom or PS.

There is a lot of noise. So, maybe the original scan had too much resolution....

48 Mar 23 Comment Wow! That shoot looked intimidating as a thumbnail and more-so when I opened it on my PC. The composition is very good. Did you crop the original image any?

Very nice work. The D850 and lens combo has plenty of resolution. Lot's of detail. You're quite resourceful to to position yourself for the shot. Excellent work!!

48 Mar 23 Comment I like the subject and the composition. The colors are very good. I'm guessing this is hand-held. If I'm correct, you have a steady hand at 120 mm and 1/100 second. F4 doesn't look to have given you enough depth of field, but I still find the image pleasing. I'd love to capture something similar!!! Mar 2nd
48 Mar 23 Comment I really like the concept of the image. There's a lot of appeal in the distortion a fisheye introduces. The color is excellent as is the starburst from the lights. I agree that there's a little too much sky. Maybe crop to a square??? Just a thought!. Mar 2nd
48 Mar 23 Comment Wow! Thank you for your commentary and suggestions. Thank you Mary for some specifics on accomplishing the adjustment. I'm not an accomplished user of Elements. So, trying out masking to make the adjustment is new territory for me!! Mar 2nd
