The pelican and it's pose are fine. Tones of the bird are well processed, just the sharpness is not good enough. Dock is too bright so catching the viewer's attention. You can darken (burn) it. There's also not enough space in front of the bird.

These bushes are a little bit unusual enviroment for the herons and it's hard to capture them there. It's interesting to capture two of them.
Here's the trouble, that camera focused on the nearest bush, so the birds are very unsharp. It would be much better to use spot focusing on the nearest heron, leaving most branches unsharp.
I would also like to see more contrast in the photo. |

Terry, interesting story! I would prefere some more darkening to the background the near chicken to stand out more. |

Joan, unfortunatelly you didn't have time to set the camera good. The kayaker is not very sharp. I prefere Terry's crop, because a lot of sky is uninteresting. And the kayaker on your photo is very near to the edge of photo. But I would keep colors. |

Bunny, I attended the same webinar, but I haven't realise it in praxis.
The image is sharp and colorful. Just black in background seems me a little distraction. But I don't know, whether you can change it in this technique. |

I think, dark background and the whole creation is appropriate for the theme. I could hardly comment it from photographic point of view. And I can't imagine to create somthing like this by myself.
