I agree, that you have made selection of the bird very carefully.
You have overexposed the bird in processing. It would be beter to lower contrast and brightnes, because original image is not overexposed.
I would prefere thinner border. |

Walter, you have come too close to the bird with such lens. The feet are too near the edge of the image and you had to clone the sea. It would be better to hold the camera upwards. And I would prefere a lower perspective of shoting, not so from the top.
It's a beautiful bird and the image is very sharp. Just the head seems overexpossed to me on the final image.
The cropped sea is slightly a different color - more blue then green. |

An interesting building in Quite the right perspective.
You should make some perspective correction on the right side (distort).
How interesting would be if there would be a person on one balcony. Maibe you can add it (clone). |

Barbara, yes, a perfect shot of bird in fly. The whole bird and specialy the eye is very sharp. The only disadvantage is noise. Not just on the sky. Also on the lower part of the bird, on greys and blacs. It is surely the result of so high ISO. I think, that with one or two steps in aperture would give you enough DOF and shutter 1/4000 or 1/2000 would still be enough for sharp image. In that conditions your ISO would be much lower and the photo would have much less noise.
Like Joan I would also prefere darker sky. |

I know, that capturing toward the sun is very difficult. The sky and sea become too bright and other objects too dark. In practise it's the best to use gradient filter at the time of capturing.
I see, that you have tried to get the sun on the photo. But it's so high on the sky and hard to see. I would rather make a landscape crop with just a little bit of sky. And I suggest to add gradient while processing. And also to darken the sea.
yes, the sea seems too magenta. |
