73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Ian - I hope I have others at least almost as good but clearly one of my favorite photos. Ray Aug 22nd
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks and yes I looked at the later image, which I actually prefer just a little bit - thanks for sharing Aug 22nd
73 Aug 25 Comment Some but by far no expert. My suggestion is to send me a raw copy of your image so I can see what it looks like. Of course I will not keep the image once I send it back to you. My email is rrtice47@gmail.com. Aug 19th

73 Aug 25 Comment Gary, Great image and its good that you gave room for the direction the boat was going in. I kinda think that less sky would be useful unless you want to have the sky appear as large as it does in the image. I was curious about what the image would lokk like if it was monochrome, realizing of course that it would lose the punch of the maroon sails. I ran your image through NIK Silver Efex selecting the full dynamic harsh option. I also cropped the image so that the water line was on the bottom third which removed sky to balance (see attached) - and a note - when I opened your image in LR Classic, there was a spatter of places where the whites were blown out and you might want to fix that before submitting to a competition or that just might be the jpg copy I have. 73 Aug 25 Comment Peter, Like the others, I am impressed. I took a photo from the same spot last September but of course nothing like this - perfect colors. perfect placement of the sun, and both cars and people on the bridge. I do favor the pano option that Butch suggested as I don't feel that all the sky adds to the image. Ray Aug 17th
73 Aug 25 Comment Ian, great pano - wish I had been with you! Every where I look I have something to draw my attention and the presence of the liner sure helps to provide scale. I hope that you were there later in the evening and night to capture those situations as well. Ray Aug 17th
73 Aug 25 Comment Dave, one of those lessons we have all learned over try he years is that once you have more than one judge (or more than one colleague willing to critique), its a rare and maybe nonexistent image where there is complete agreement. For me, I go with Gary especially in keeping the sagebrush. I had a great photo trip to Death Valley and your image reminds me of how I felt there. Thanks! Ray Aug 16th
73 Aug 25 Comment Butch, a great image. I agree with Sherry that I could not recognize which birds they were (I was thinking Canadian geese since I am familiar with them). And I applaud your willingness to brave the weather conditions at that time of day and over that distance - at least you left with something very positive. I was trying to decide whether the out of focus birds should be there or not and decided yes and they add depth to the image. I enjoyed seeing the image. Ray Aug 16th
73 Aug 25 Comment Sherry, nothing much more to add except in cropping the sky, I would have left a little more above the mt than Butch as it seems a little tight to me, and I found that a lot of my older shots have spots that I need to take care of and your image has 3 up at the top and cropping would get rid of those. As said, its a memory photo and one to make you smile. Ray Aug 16th
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Gary, There is a time where I had the image flipped horizontally so that the dark sand originated in the bottom left corner thinking that might make it a better leading line but decided it was better to keep the image accurate and it still worked out. Ray Aug 16th
73 Aug 25 Reply Butch - I greatly appreciate your comments. We all have shall I say lots of less than perfect images and having one that not only I like but others is really special. Ray Aug 16th
73 Aug 25 Reply Thanks Sherry - I must admit it is one of my favorite images and to some extent its because the original was so poor. Be great to go back, wouldn't it. Ray Aug 16th
