75 Dec 24 Reply Odd - this worked for me when I copied and pasted - https://www.shopmoment.com/mobile-lenses - they have 6 or so and you would need their special device for attaching; they also have a setup for filters that I use so I can get long exposures.

75 Dec 24 Reply Mo - yes, I used that format ending up with a DNG file. I have been using an iPhone 14 but will move to a 16 pro by the end of this year as I want the extra file size when taking macro/ultra wide photos (from 12MP to 48MP). I have been researching the add on lens that Moment has for the iPhone (https://www.shopmoment.com/mobile-lenses) and think some of them will be useful. So, sorry to hear you cracked a lens on your 14 but likely you are better off with the 16. Dec 20th
75 Dec 24 Comment Mo, why am I not surprised that you raise carnivorous plants in addition to everything else - living in North Carolina as I do (Venus flytrap the state carnivorous flower, home to 36 of the 66 species of such plants in the US) I see them frequently at local nature preserves and in the wild at the coast.Image is pretty cool but a question - when I open the image and look closely, I see a lot of colored speckles - is that light refracting from the hairs or ? and some of the stem areas that face the top left corner seem as if the light from that corner was maybe too bright? Not sure I know the correct way to say that. Yes, black background works best. Ray Dec 15th
75 Dec 24 Reply Murphy - don't get me wrong - I greatly like the image - the color difference between the background and the flower is dramatic, the crop does well so that the center is large with the stamens very well positioned while leaving the twisting of the upper petals sets offers pleasing shapes. I appreciate we strive for perfection thus my comment but not sure that getting the end of that petal in focus makes a significant difference. Ray Dec 7th
75 Dec 24 Comment Gaetan, my app calls the flower a garlic vine, also known as an Amethyst vine (Mansoa alliacea). I agree with Murphy that there is a lack of sharpness (for example, look at the outside petal at 9 o'clock - either there are 2 petals one right behind the other with just a bit showing (both not sharp) or there was movement of the petal during the shot. I also agree that the black areas on the stem are distracting. Ray Dec 5th
75 Dec 24 Comment Murphy, a lovely image and one I have taken many times - you did great on the stamens as it is so easy not to get them separated. Colors along with the black background are outstanding, The end of the upper right petal looks a little soft. Was there any thought to doing focus stacking, which th D850 does really well? 75 Dec 24 Comment Vincent - my app says it is an azalea variety - almost hard to tell with so many flowers. You did good - it looks to me as if the further is move from the center, the flowers are not pointing straight to the camera but more to the side. I actually think this is useful as the flowers in the center draw you attention and the sides become more of a background. And yes, the green leaf peaking out adds a lot to the composition. 75 Dec 24 Comment Thanks Murphy - I am continually suprised by just how good the iphone can be in taking certain kinds of photos. Ray Dec 5th
