Judy, sorry for the delay in reviewing your image - I appreciate that you are exploring composition and DoF. It seems to me that you wanted everything soft except for parts of the hibiscus. My thought is that perhaps making the softer parts even more soft would have helped the viewer know that it was intentional. I am not bothered by the narrow format as it makes me think about how best to use it - say by having 3 such images of different flowers, maybe the same vase, next to each other on a wall. I like the background and the table. Ray |

Dan, I always look forward to your next adventure with photography and yes the contrast between flowers at their peak and the surrounding decay tells a great story. Nothing I would change. |

Dan, like the other 2 I am very impressed with the composition and colors. This is one I would print and hang if it were mine. One tiny picky point that I get dinged on by some judges - the borders are perfect except fro on small place on the top border in the right half where there is a brighter spot. Ray |

I agree with Dan - and am pleased we have two submissions on the same flower type - one limited to a single flower head and another giving a broader view. Really crisp image. Well done. |

Vincent, well done - I like the structure as well. For me, I agree with Dan about the greenery at the bottom as I think it detracts from the simplicity of the scene. Am not bothered by the curb. Ray |
