I will, of course but after I give it a try first so I know what questions to ask. |

Thanks MO - I much appreciate the greater information. I have lots of flowers to try it on since my wife grows them professionally. Ray |

Mo - my take as well - works well as an abstract and without the background information, I would never know how it was achieved so very intriguing. Makes me wonder about the approach interns of what kinds of flowers look best, how much ice to have around the object, would food dyes or color filter add impact (or just post-processing color). Thanks for sharing this with us. Ray |

Judy, good flower for a photo and I agree a square photo would be better. I like the angle as it helps giving a 3 dimensional view. The petals at the back seem slightly out of focus compared to the petals in the front, The colors are good, and the background works at least for me. |

Thanks Vincent - in reconsidering, I think one set of leaves would be better while keeping the rest of the frame as large - making it a minimalist photo. |

Thanks Dan for the comment and I think you are correct that the absence of a branch connecting the two sets of leaves poses a problem so I either need a branch there or just have one set of leaves or move them much closer to each other. Ray |

Gaetan, I like how you took the photo and using a flash is something I really need to try especially since it worked really well in giving you a black background. I agree with Murphy about maybe f/11 was not the best for sharpness throughout. I wonder what would happen if you ran the image through say Topaz Photo AI or another similar program. I look forward to seeing other efforts like this. Ray

Dan, I enjoy the photo and the inchworm almost jumps out at you. Crocosmia are one of my favorite subjects. I like the composition and color but find the hot spots a little distracting and the top area with all of the flowers bunched together losing some appeal meaning my eyes tended to wander in that area. Thanks for sharing. Ray |

Murphy, I like taking photos of roses but generally (meaning almost exclusively) of single flowers or parts thereof. This suggest to me I should consider multiple flower subjects as well. The top flower area looks just a tad too busy while all of the other flowers are nicely set off by themselves. My eyes pick up places where parts of insect web parts exist - did you mean to leave them in? Everything is sharp except for some leaves in the lower left below the bud. All in al - pretty nifty. Vincent, it's a good subject. The 105mm lens is my go to lens for almost all flower and other similar subjects and it is a great lens. One question is whether you prefer the lack of sharpness at the back of the leaf or would have liked the entire leaf to be in focus. Given that the iso was 6400, going to f/22 would likely have pushed the iso really high. Only way to get all in focus is using a tripod and focus stacking which of course means more setup effort rather than taking a snapshot. If the photo was in raw, did you try using the new Denoise in LR as that seems to work quite well. I actually like the leaf this way (sharpness fading) but would clone out the 2 lens reflections in the upper left corner. Ray |

Thanks Murphy - looks like this image could have been helped by a border. Ray |
