Marge,
Let me k now if you have any questions about stacking - I did a presentation on the subject for my photo club and we can do a Zoom to present if you might find that useful. Ray |

Marge, there is photo time that includes a few minutes to select and pose the flower, a few minutes to get the camera setting right, a few minutes to take the many exposures, a few minutes to download the images into LR, a few minutes to eliminate out of focus images at the end of the stack, a few minutes to run the stack in Helicon Focus and get the final back in LR, maybe 10 min to play with the image, then sent to Nik Silver Fx where maybe 5 min to select which filter, then back into LR for minor changes. When doing the photo taking and stacking processing I do it as a batch, filling one or more 120 GB cards with flower images, and process them together in Helicon Focus and I am generally doing the things while the camera is taking photos or processing the stacks goes on. I probably spend more time deciding what image to work on and writing up how I did it for submission than the actual image processing. Basically not long unless Is have to deal with a lot of taking care of spots and damage which on this flower was minimal if at all. Ray |

Marge, just goes to show as I actually like the softness in the Calla Lily so I think its a great image but I do agree that a little of the green stem would have been nice. Good job with the flash. Ray |

Judy, lovely flowers with a bug or 2 - I agree about the top rail but what about cropping it out or maybe you were using them to set a boundary. I have attached a suggested edit where I cropped out the top rail, cropped out some of the right side as not needed, straightened the bottom rail, and got rid of the dead part of the leaf fin the lower left - just to see what you think. Dan, This is a difficult image for me to comment on as my eyes wander all over. I almost think but am not sure that having more in focus (meaning the background) might help. Also, might more room at the top be useful as I feel the top yellow flower is too close to the edge. I will think about this some more but not sure I have any other thoughts for you to consider. Murphy - good going, not only for the image but how you made a digital image from slide film. I really like the progression and the color contrasts. The suggestion from Charlie does help in terms of DoF. |

Vincent, I agree with what has been said so no need to say it again. Given that, I like the approach as I also have been taking photos of flowers looking straight down and have run into the same concerns - mixed lighting and background clutter. Ray |

Thanks Charlie, sorry about the error as of course text would be confusing. In looking at the B&W image on the screen, appears a little dark so will lighten some. |
