78 Apr 23 Reply This looks fantastic Brenda! Just the right amount of brightening on those areas and the crop is great! Apr 26th
78 Apr 23 Reply I also like what Mitch did with it. For this particular flower/plant, I also feel that the leaves, not just the flower, are an important element. The leaves of this particular trillium are rather unique in their appearance and help to visually identify the specific type of trillium. The very tight crop removes too much of the leaves. Apr 26th
78 Apr 23 Comment Thanks to all for the comments!

I liked the idea of opening up the exposure on the inner bud just a touch and darkening some of the background areas in the lower portion of the image as well as the green leaves competing with the bud.

I also liked the slightly off-center approach Jim took with his edit but found I liked a twist on it even better.

I played with the crop some more, opened up the exposure on that inner bud, toned down the remaining green leaves a little, toned down the blown out highlights on the one outer leaf of the main bud, darkened the remaining background spot at the bottom of the image, mirrored it from left to right, and finally ran it through Topaz Labs' DeNoise.

78 Apr 23 Comment Great reflection image Mitch!

Jim's adaptation on it is very interesting and unique... I believe his crop and image manipulation combined with the same exposure levels and contrast you had in your original modified submission might be a great combo!

78 Apr 23 Comment This is a fun photo Robert and I love everything you have done with it so far.

Jim's version slightly rotated and cropped is nice though it is over-sharpened for my liking... I like the softer approach you took on 4/09 and agree with you that it adds to the overall feeling of luminosity.

To offer something completely different, I also cropped in tight and rotated, applied a Lightroom preset with color and contrast that appealed to me, then ran it through Topaz Lab's Gigapixel AI, and treated it as a "Highly Compressed Image" so it could fill in the gaps a little and keep some of the overall softness and smoothness intact.

Finally, I completed flipped/mirrored it horizontally and determined that I liked the unique artistic aspect of it.

Here is that rework.

78 Apr 23 Comment This image is absolutely wonderful in monotone Sunil!

I [personally prefer your second image in the comments, the one you indicate is processed a little differently. To me, given the content, I like the higher contrast in that second image and feel it gives the photo overall the impression of a greater dynamic range than the originally modified version, which feels a little "flat" from a dynamic range perspective.

78 Apr 23 Comment I agree with what most everyone else has said on this image Jim: First that it is an incredible image with just the right amount of color saturation and wonderful angles. Second, that the round window at the top is the only thing that I find distracting.

Otherwise, my eyes move all around this image and study everything, coming back to things, and never leaving the image.

78 Apr 23 Comment This is a great shot Brenda! I agree with Robert and Mitch that perhaps lightening the head and shoulders just a touch would be nice. I also believe lightening the feet and the dark portion of the catch just a touch could be helpful but not too much.

I like what Sunil did with the crop and agree that it absolutely helps to bring the water droplets into greater importance/significance within the photo ... I do feel that it may be cropped just a touch too much for my liking in Sunil's rendition as well. Possibly splitting the difference would be a place to start and play with the crop until you feel it has the right balance.

Lovely photo.
