I love the ICM shots done in camera versus photoshop. You have a great eye, you analyzed the situation and visualized it differently. I love the way the leaves on ground lead you up into and through the trees! Excellent job with the composition. |

I can't believe you took that picture with an iPhone. Amazing detail, beautiful. I agree with Damon if you're going to do a black background go all in. Do you use a post editing tool, You can accomplish the black background very easily with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or Adobe Elements. All good tools to isolate your subject. |

Hi Dean, I attended a few workshops with Meredith Images where she teaches how you can overlay textures in Photoshop, change the layer mode, add blur, etc layer on an existing image to create depth and add interest to a photography. This shot would be great candidate. Their number 1 or 2 rule is to keep all your images you never know what you can do with them. Check-out her website below.

It's a great image. It definitely shows you in your element surrounded by all the props you use in the studio. I'm guessing you are tethered to your camera looking closely at the image on your computer making adjustments based on what you see. I like the umbrella's hanging above. Nice studio and good story. |

Beautifully arranged still life. It's not easy, I know because I've tried. I like your choice of background and table. The colors complement each other nicely. The lighting is very good, also I like the comment Damon made about focusing on something in the center - I will remember this technique as well. It's Apple Season in New Jersey and it is a beautiful day maybe I'll go out and pick some apples today and attempt a still life of some type. Have a great day! |

I did bracket the image -1 0 1 and I used a 10 stop filter for a 10 second shutter speed. I too saw the softness in the branches due to slow shutter speed, but I couldn't think of a way to correct it in post. It definitely stands out for me as well. I'm working on my long exposure, and I will keep this in mind when I shoot future Falls. Thank you for commenting. |

Thank you for commenting, Barbara. I too thought about darkening the trees in the background but then I thought how would that impact the reflection - would it look off because there wasn't enough sunlight to make that type of reflection. |
