Totally agree about the left branch Tom. These days I'm thinking more competitions than "what I'd like to see" hence my not thinking of taking the branch out. I've recently decided to make two copies of images I plan to use for competitions, with the other copy to be PP'd for the way I'd like it to look. Thanks so much for your comments as always. |

Love the Gull's expression and with its wings position it looks like it going a wake up stretch. Sharp and nice cropping. |

Excellent capture Maria and very sharp where it needs to be. I like how the background is treated by the f7.1 aperture. Interesting waddle on the bird. |

nice capture of the Downy with his talons out to grip the limb. While the f2.8 aperture provided a very nice out of focus background, it left the left end of the perch out of focus which is a little distracting. With the end of the perch pointing back at the subject, my eye tends to gravitate to it and if it were more in focus, I think it would add a lot to the image. All in all, a very nice composition. |

Thanks Dan and Frans. I do see the ghosting and slight halos that resulted from my darkening the background and will take your suggestions on them. Frans this is not a composite image. I was recently in Costa Rica again on a frog shoot. It was the heavy rainy season and when the frogs mate. We found frogs in many unusual places as the males chased the females which my biologist friend said only occurs during this brief time. |
