Thank you Sylvia. After Lisa mentioned flipping the image, I did and it certainly is better. Appreciate your comments. |

Thanks Lisa. I particularly appreciate your comment about flipping the image and the rationale for doing so. That is something I will definitely keep in mind as I scrutinize my other images. |

Thanks Maria. I had a very nice time watching and photographing the Skimmers. I got down to about two feet from the ground but that was as much as I could muster. |

Thanks Richard. I'm not a younger lad either, but you're correct it would have been a better shot. |

Hi Tom. I would rarely if ever intentionally cut off part of an animal such as in this image, but the clutter was really overwhelming and I really like the chick's expression and pose. And I also agree with the additional area above and below. I cropped this image at 16:9 to enter it in competitions and doing so cut out some good negative spaces. You did an outstanding job on adding the tail. |

I would class this image as a rare pose capture for Ospreys. The birds are sharp with very good exposure and the image has great story telling ability. Well done. I also visit Blue Cypress lake annually and enjoy photographing some of the 600+ nests there. |

Very nice image Xiao. Great pose and as you mentioned the bird has a very focused look which makes me think it just spotted a meal perhaps. I would suggest Mueting the light green slash just below the tail as it is a bit of distraction. Overall a great job on the background. |

I think the water ripples and lines add good background interest to the image. I do share Kathy's concern about the extra space and wonder if a 16:9 crop would help that overall (if you don't mind using 16:9). I also noticed that the right swan had a blow out area that I think might be fixed using the highlight and/or white sliders. The interest both swans have in something just below the water certainly adds a bit of mystery. |

Very striking composition Lisa. Not only is the bird beautifully presented but even the limb and leaves are very dynamic as well. Thank you for sharing your post processing details as I have now learned about glow. |

Wonderful job of cropping and bringing such a rare and beautiful bird out in a very nice overall composition. I have to admit that I have never heard of a yellow cardinal. My wife just told me that there is also a white one. Maybe one day... |

Thanks LC for both comments. Yes, I did a sky replacement on the image with plans to use it in open color (not nature) competitions. I'm sure that is what caused the halo as that has happened before. I recently read a work around on such halos and if I can find it again, I'll post the address. |

Thank you both. I like my photography to be fun and seeing this bird on this branch and then getting this shot was indeed fun. |

Excellent family photo Dan. The only suggestion I can think of is to go to Camera Raw's Adaptative Subject filter and chose "POP" to separate the birds a bit more from the background. It's a fun tool. Great shot. |

Nice in-flight capture Frans. I agree with Dan about the background as it would greatly emphasize the subject. Beautiful bird. |

Interesting shot LC. One side of the post appears on my monitor to be a bit blown out. I really like the expression on the vulture's face. With its natural skin wrinkles aiding the expression, it appears to be very concerned that the bee is going to steal his meal. I recently had an opportunity to photograph a King Vulture in Costa Rica which is apply named for its size and its regal multi-colored neck and head. You would like that one! |

Hi Ginny. Your image has good exposure and color. Like Dan indicated, the subject is perhaps too well hidden, however the image does demonstrate the owl's excellent camouflaging abilities and so tells a story. Good eye if finding this owl. |
